“天還沒有亮，一個令人喘不過氣，極度緊張的驚險旅程即將出發。
我是自願參與這次記錄片的拍攝工作(之前參與過一次)，我從沒有嘗試過在沒有劇本、航線隨時更改的情況下逆時而行。” –米高柏林
利用破爛不堪的駁船渡過威尼斯，接著乘搭殘舊的士棋過埃及，再坐上簡陋小船跨過波斯灣，以及乘上蒸氣火車棋越中國，再乘坐中國貨船經過換日線…
米高柏林這次以不尋常的方法環繞地球一週，腹瀉及飢餓充斥著旅程，而前面的世界卻是充滿著驚喜。
挑戰 ~ 一個秋天的下午，當時是九時四十五分，米高希望八十日環遊世界之後可以重回此地。他會盡力模仿朱利維納筆下的人物、路線只行海陸兩路，不乘搭航空交通。豈料，發達的航空交通竟然影響鐵路運作，扼殺了昔日在維多利亞時代的成績。米高明白到情況只會由好變壤…
阿拉伯驚雲 ~ 米高經已延誤了歐洲的行程，他先後乘搭列車、駱駝和的士到達蘇伊士運河，但是開往吉達的航班最後一刻因引擎故障而取消，米高只有繼續航行…當他抵達孟買，整個旅程經已延誤了一星期，他似乎失敗了。
古代的航行 ~ 為了趕及旅程，米高花了40小時橫越阿拉伯，往杜拜成了最艱辛的旅程。他們一行人乘坐三角帆船往孟買，怎料在荷慕斯海峽出現引擎故障，那兒正是兩伊戰爭的戰地，米高和他的柏西巴度只好無奈地呆望…
驚險邊緣 ~ 在三角帆船航行了八天，他的行程進度已經遠遠落後菲利士弗格。最後只剩下艘沒有位置載客的船開往馬德拉斯，米高只好說服船長，希望可以充當水手。最後新加坡在望，米高和弗格的行程進度相差十天了，而他在香港的聯絡人已經走了…
東方快車 ~ 海洋鑽石號經已出發，不過米高柏連憑藉極快的速度，在新加坡碼頭趕上那艘巨型的運貨船。那艘船花了數天時間和三個南中國海的颱風糾纏，才將米高送抵香港。米高停留一段時間和鸚鵡玩，最後才乘火車橫越中國，希望可以趕上時間。
在遠東往東方去 ~ 到了第四十八天，米高乘坐一艘中國客輪，由上海航行到橫濱。在東京度過了愉快的一晚後，米高找到一艘船可以在10至11天內抵達加洲，他度過了兩個十一月廿一日，他發現橫越日界線亦有危險之處…
由日界線到終結 ~ 米高花了58天抵達日界線，他剩餘22日去完成另一半的環遊世界旅程。他要用高速橫越太平洋、美國和大西洋，往倫敦的時間一步一步逼近，到底最後的結局如何?時間在一點一滴地流走……
