December 21, 2009 The Little NyonyaMy 82 year old mom couldn't get enough of the story, and she was really sad when it ended. We were so engrossed in the story that we started to hate the villians and feel sorry for the heroines- so good are the characters' portrayals. I was surprised that Singapore could produce such a masterpiece. It showed the world the Peranakan culture and as a foreigner, even I'll feel sorry if that culture and traditions fade away. It also brought back nostalgic memories of my chilhood in S'pore more than 50 years ago, when we had a Peranakan family as neighbours. I hope S'pore comes up with similar movies.
