After
Nada Sou Sou and
Humming Life, Japanese cinema sees another heartwarming song-inspired film in
Mirai Yosozu - Aishiteru no Sign (a.k.a.
The Signs of Love). Inspired by DREAMS COME TRUE's same-titled song,
Mirai Yosozu is the first feature-length film from Chono Hiroshi, who paid his dues assisting on films like
The Grudge and
The Laughing Frog. Starring Matsushita Nao (
Adiantum Blue, XX) and up-and-coming television actor Takezai Terunosuke (
Rondo), the film follows a woman's changing perspectives on life and love over a decade's time. From the innocence of 20 years old, to the restless drive of 25, to the quiet maturity of 30,
Mirai Yosozu is about the journey of time that pulls young love apart yet brings hearts back together.
For their graduation trip, college sweethearts Keita (Takezai Terunosuke) and Sayaka (Matsushita Nao) travel to Spain together. Standing in front of the church designed by Keita's favorite architect, the young couple firmly believe that their love will last forever. After graduation, they pursue their respective dreams, finding new hardships and passion in work, and supporting and encouraging each other along the way. When Keita is offered a position in Spain, however, they suddenly realize they had embarked on separate paths in life without even knowing.
