Darien Fawkes is a pretty thief and con-man who is about to face life in prison. Bailed out of jail by his brother, he accepts to undergo an untested human experiment during which a quicksilver gland is implanted into his head that allows him to turn invisible. However, this proves to be the beginning of the end, for shortly afterwards his brother is killed, while he is forced to enlist as a secret weapon for a mysterious government organization. At the same time the implanted gland slowly drives him insane

The operation was a success, but that’s where everything started to go wrong. When his brother was killed, he is forced to enlist as a secret weapon for a top-secret government organization in return for a counter-agent which keeps the gland from driving him insane… The Official devises a scheme to gain the inside track on Arnaud De Fehrn by pilfering money from his casino in Las Cruces, but without the gambling help of Darien…
