Western culture has a cupid that shoots arrows, but in Chinese folk tradition, the matchmaking god ties lovers together with a red cord. Ever since she was a little girl, Rain (Fion Fu) has been able to see and touch these red cords, giving her the ability to affect people's relationship fates - like when her parents got divorced after she cut their cord out of mischief. Though surrounded by threads of love, Rain's own love life is empty until one day she sees a guy (Wang Bo Chieh) trip over another couple's red cord. He rushes away before she can talk to him, piquing Rain's curiosity. The next day, a red cord shows up on Rain's wrist, and she decides to follow it to find her love.

Directed by National Taiwan University of Arts student Huang Qi Di, the delightful short film Ms. Cupid stars Fion Fu from Devil Beside You in the titular role and Wang Bo Chieh from Winds of September as her love interest. Though a student film, this youth romance holds up very well with its unique premise, cute story, solid production values, and fresh young cast of rising stars. Ms. Cupid screened in competition at the 2008 Taipei Film Festival and won Best Director at the 15th Beijing Student Film Festival.
