Renowned land surveyor Shibazaki Yoshitaro (Asano Tadanobu) has been commissioned by the government to map Mt.Tsurugidake and its surrounding terrains. Forming a small team that includes willful assistant surveyor Shin (Matsuda Ryuhei) and hardy woodsman Chojiro (Kagawa Teruyuki), they bravely set out into the great unknown, but the hike is tough and unforgiving as blizzards, avalanches, and other dangerous obstacles threaten to put an end to their dreams.
