Some good, some bad Customer Review Rated Bad 6 - 6 out of 10
This album is 50/50, I didn't like a lot of songs, but there was some songs that I really liked. The bad songs were really slow and had way too simple music for my liking. My favorite tracks were "Rocking Horse" and track 2, especially the second song, because the melody, music and singing is so gorgeous. Mika has a beautiful voice, but I don't like all the songs she sings.

Beautiful album Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
With Mika's beautiful voice, as well as her powerful songs, this album is great! The songs in this album lean more to ballads and jazz, like all of Mika's previous albums. However, the whole album (except for one track) has a very dark feel. Though it's great, it'd be nice to hear things that sound a little more happy, like Sakurairo Maukoro.

Track 1 (Sakurairo Maukoro) is a powerful and uplifting ballad about love and cherry blossoms. Mika's vocals are very emotional in this song and she grabs your attention right at the beginning. The best and most moving part of the song is at the end where she seems to go full out and delivers a phenomenol performance. Track 12 (Fed Up) is a really emotional rock ballad. This song definitely stands out among the others because it sounds rather dark and mysterious in the beginning, but totally surprises you and overwhelms you with emotion. I don't think anyone could perform this song as good as Mika. Her dark vocals definitely match this enchanting rock song.

A nice album with some very beautiful tracks, with some very beautiful vocals. However, the dark theme somewhat drags the album and I personally find some of the album tracks lacklusters because of that. Recommended for all.

Ok album Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
In my opinion, this album has too many jazzy numbers. I'm not too much of an advocate for jazz and the album becomes boring at certain intervals. Bt I'm particularly surprised ts the song "Fed up". It's great rock music; rising to a crescendo and she handles it pretty well. I don't really like the song "FAKE" and "Rocking Horse". its boring jazz to me. However I wld like to comment on her efforts for the rest of the songs. She sang them with such beautiful emotions.

A Musical Treat Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
In MUSIC Mika sings a buffet of varieties, showing off her skills!! Of course, the single songs are unmistakably masterpieces of Mika, but I would like to add album songs 'Fed Up'. 'Hitori', 'Kumo no Ito" to the hit-list. The jazzy songs are not as good as the ones in Mika's LOVE album, but all other songs are wonderful. You would never get tired of listening to this album. I find her voice very versatile, as to I find it difficult to explain why I love Mika's voice so much. I must add that the album pictures are veryyy creative- just like any other Mika photo shoots!! This album is a must-get for your Jpop music collection.

Another classic album from Nakashima Mika. Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
Never, in the four years leading up to this review, have I found Nakashima Mika's albums revolting. With all the less than wonderful music that I've heard here in America I for one can certainly appreciate someone like Mika who actually has the kind of vocal talent you don't hear very often. This album in particular, like everything else she's done, is one of those things that makes you think... 'It's impossible to resist such a pleasant sound.'

The best songs on the disc are practically all the six single tracks (especially 'Hi no Tori' is a lovely and smooth Adult Contemporary ballad) but all the other songs make for a truly exceptional (Adult Contemporary?) pop album, indeed...and possibly the best album released in 2005, at a tie with Mika's own 'Best.'

My advice: if you love listening to good music, pick up something like this anyway. And if you do, don't forget to buy her other albums as well. Later.

I LOVER MIKA!!! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I think Mika Nakashima's album Music is great... her music ranges and voice makes her the epitome of what real music is... I love pretty much every song on this CD... and love how it was very well put together... she's very talented and I hope she comes to america to do a concert, or that if I get to go to Japan, I get to see her perform... It's amazing how on each of her songs, she managed to tie traditional japanese, jazz, new age, and many other elements of music all into one song with her voice... 1000 words could not describe how good this album is... it puts my daughter to sleep at night and I sit and listen to it all the time when I need to relax... her voice is wonderful... if you want to get away from some of these American singers, then Mika's the way to go... you definitely will not regret buying this album... Songs that stand out are Sakura-iro mau koro (which means "when the color of cherry blossoms flutter"), Hino Tori (which is "bird of fire" or "Phoenix"), Kumo no Ito (track 4, which means "Spider's Web"), Rocking Horse, LEGEND, Hemmlock (Hemurokku), SEVEN, FAKE, Fed Up, Carrot & Whip, Hitori, and some others... anyway, you can only enjoy this album if you buy it... that's the only way to unlock Mika's true and astonishing talent...I assure you that you will not regret purchasing this CD... I'm definitely glad I did... don't you want to have that same feeling??

great album Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
When you think of Nakashima Mika, you may just think of her weird public image and how she didnt wear shoes when she sang at Kouhaku. But this album, MUSIC, which was the first Nakashima Mika CD I bought, made me put aside how I had thought of her, and I realized that good music is good music, and a talented singer is a talented singer. In this album, she almost effortlessy uses her whole range, going very high, while keeping control of her heavenly voice, and never even getting close to going out of tune. The songs are all beautifully written, and the solo violin on the 2nd track makes the song one of my favorite songs ever. The way the violinist (Hakase Taro) plays the music is so emotional and blends with and complements Nakashima's voice, and it also doesnt hurt that the song is so well written and arranged. Although Nakashima's music is J-Pop, her style ranges so much on this album (a good reason why the album is called "Music"). Songs like the first 4 songs, and "hitori" are ballads with piano and strings, but "fed up" has more of a rock feel, and "FAKE" is mellow jazz. This album is perfect for anyone who likes all types of music, and it's also perfect for people who only like a certain type of music because if you like Nakashima's voice, you will also like the other styles of music on the album. In fact, I've been listening to this album over and over lately, because you can't get tired of her music, since she doesn't rely on cheap catchy tunes to get listeners.

Overall very poetic & atmospheric Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10

This album, is from my personal opinion, showcases what works best and what's not for her. As an extreme fanatic of almost her EVERY song (straight from her first single, STARS to the dramatic Hitori, but there are only two songs I don't like so far), I kept thinking whether in this third installment whether she should concentrate for a much slower paced, more emotional genre or a more conventional, usual pop genres.

Together in this album she puts herself neither here nor there to bring out variety. But the first four songs, "Cherry Blossoms", "Obozorukiyo~inori", "Fire Bird", the 4th track (couldn't read Japanese, I apologize), 'LEGEND', and the dramatic jazz track 'FAKE' to me sums up the fact that this album IS BEAUTIFULLY poetic and atmospheric. The inclusion of 'Carrot Whip' and the rest which were upbeat are very nice & lighthearted, but I personally think that the track 'FED UP' is the one that's 'neither here nor there' - she seemed to struggle to harmonize herself with the slower, dramatic segment and the unexpetedly, heavy rock theme. What's sounded a bit more frustating to me was why it is placed just before the final track 'Hitori'.

Very strong themes of sentiment do appear in this album though. Especially the first track, 'Sakurairo Maukoro' , 'Shadows of you' (which reminds me back of early-mid 90s slow r&b) and 'Hitori' - a near pefect vocal track to end this album.

But all in all, I WOULD LOVE TO SEE HER sing more jazz. Any jazz, it could be another seductive, and upbeat 'Love Addict' or the very slow and emotional "MISSING" (which is one of my three most personal favourites next to Last Waltz, and Hitori). I am a bit dissapointed, that this track did not make a return in this album.

I still HIGHLY recommend those who are new to listen to her previous album, 'LOVE' - as you may have missed her most important songs (eg. 'Love Addict', 'Snow's Flower', and 'Kisses' and many others...

All in all she has a deep but feminist, and very compassionate voice that will eventually move your heart.
