April 3, 2002 Most popular male? I think so! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Let me see, as I listen to this Cd. From the Cd look/feel and the Cd title you should be expecting more song and loves songs from Andy's amazing voice in this Cd. Track 1 is a ballad and taken from an original Korean song, once you get into the chorus, Andy's voice demonstrates power and feeling, this is a very deep feeling/love song and is performed well. Track 2 is in a minor key song making it distinctive and nice to the ear, listening to it creates a smooth drifting feel to suit the song title, very nice. Track 3 is a duet with a female and was originally a Korean song. The song has a nice mood, it easy listening and nice to the ear, together with they nicely matched and timed voices. Track 4 has an amazing bass and intro melody, the song has attitude and a great soothing feel to it, making you just wanting to repeat it over again. Track 5 is from another Korean song, it has a simple melody and smooth lyrics nicely delivered vocally. Track 6 has a gentle beat and pleasant melody, and song seems happy with a touch of angelic feel. Andy performs it with a very wide range of vocals here demonstrating skill talent. Track 7 is Track 7 from Mud his Cantonese album, in Cantonese it was great and Mandarin he does the same job in making this great as well. The song is very soulful and gives a very deep feeling in your heart, the vocal control in this is great. Track 8 has a bit of R&B feel and also in a minor key, it sounds like a sad song and another soulful one. Track 9 like Track 1 has a powerful chorus, the lyrics are good and meaningful, overall the song is quite easy to catch and will be a hit. The album ends with Track 10, this is another easy beat song, and the melody is controlled by the vocal. The minor/blues tones of the song make the song flowing and soothing, which ends the album well. Overall besides showing improvement in his Mandarin fluency, Andy demonstrates great vocal control and range in the album, and every song it very individual and powerful in it’s ways, though my favorite has to be Track 4.

November 30, 2001 An unexpected one! Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
Not having heard of who Roy was before I say this album I decided to get it for it's good reviews. Well I have to say that the music is very individual compared to today's newcomer's (male singers) music. First of all, it is more rocky and loud than the usually slow teenage love songs by the other newcomers. But what was surprising was that some of the songs sounded quite 90s, at first I thought it was weird but then I grew into it and I would describe his music to be a younger style of 'Beyond' (when they had 4 members). It is very obvious that Roy has talent and has a nice voice, especially in track 5 (the duet) in which his voice sounded like Edmond Leung's. But the his voice also sounds on the fast and louder vocals. His music is very enjoyable and entertaining, which is also very out of the original. I wold recommend it and especially those how liked Beyond, which I surprisingly didn't.

October 9, 2001 Just Prefection! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Wow! This story is so good, despite seeing the Louis Koo version before, I must say that this is by far a better version. I love the way the characters are chosen to suit their role in which they demonstrate prefection in. My favourite character has to be the cool and very pretty 'Sil Lon Lui' played by Chan Yuk Lin, because she gives such a distinct yet careless attitude in her character which looks absolutly idolistical, and her fighting shots are very good as well. Andy Lau also proves to be the best suited character for 'Yeung Gor', with his energetic and cheeky personality. He also demonstrates true heroism and was so good and convincing in the love scenes. The chemistry between the two was so real that made them just perfect, they suited so much to the roles and each other. The story line was so attractive (but too sad at times) that I want to read the original books now. Whilst watching it, never did it cross my mind that it was filmed in the 80's because it was just so good. The fighting in it is very good and clearly shot, however I did prefer the scenes with just the two main actors in more. Although the credit is for the story-writer, Andy and Yuk Lin really showed true love through their characters, and great co-ordinations in their fighting. With a great story and best suited characters, this is truely and unarguably the original and the best TV series ever. Watch it to see what Heroism and True Love is, it has everything you want.

July 2, 2001 This is why she is the BEST! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I brought this album when it was first released because I am a great fan of Sammi's music, this means that I have owned this Cd for over two years now. However I have only appreciated it for a year because before I was not a very big fan of any mandarian music. I don't know why, but one day I chose to listen to this album out of my Sammi collection, and I was stund by how good it was and how much I appreciated it. The album as a whole gives such a great feel, and the songs in it ranges very wide from 'her style' slow songs to a very soothing ballad to a Taiwanese style Pop and to JPop style songs like "Absence", "Over the Border", "Never Enough" and "City Talk". Sammi controls her voice very well throughout the whole album and uses different tones and techniques to express each song. Tracks 1, 2 and 3 are sang with a very light and soothing tone; 4, 7 and 9 is delivered with a strong voice and matching the tempos of the song; 5 and 6 shows Sammi using the firm side of her voice especially on the long notes and high pitches; and 8 and 10 sees her experimenting on a new style of singing which is not heard on her previous albums. Every single song is distinct and individual yet they are all excellent, I can just about choose a favourite which is "Over the Border" but all the rest are just as good. The album can be listened to for when you want to relax or to sing along to or even to blast out, it is truely a remarkable album and worth all ears!

July 1, 2001 Improved but still needs work. Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
I must admit shamefully, that I like Edison mainly because of his good looks, but you must accept that this is his selling point. After I brought his first album, I was reluctant to buy anymore of his music because was simply awful, his songs were bad and his voice was unbearable. However, I foolishly fell into the trap of buying album because of the photo book inside. Well as I had the album then there was no harm in giving his singing another try. To my amazement, Edison's singing had improved alot, his was no Jacky Cheung but he managed to deliver his voice relatively well and acceptably with the appropriate songs. The other amazement was that songs had turned so much more R&B and hip hop than his EP, maybe because I'm from England so I can accept R&B and hip hop more easily. I do like the R&B type music that he is developing, it is fresh and very US style. I am not a fan of hip hop though I find Edison's style acceptable because it is not heavy like Eminem's, I guess that rapping also allows him to escape from singing too much. In the Album I favour tracks 4,6 and 9 but especially 10 which is an all-english song. Overall, as he has made his name in entertainment then he must carry on and I think that this album is a successful first album to start him off, as it is fresh to the HK music market and uses his voice and rapping techiques in an appropriate way. However, he will not always be as lucky as to get good songs that do not require him to deliver it with a good voice, so he should stick to a similar type of music and songs but work hard on improving his voice.

July 1, 2001 Simply not what I was expecting Customer Review Rated Bad 5 - 5 out of 10
I am not a fan of Joey's and have never brought her previous albums, infact i quite dislike her person but maybe her music and songs are good otherwise why would she be so famous and successful, this was what I was thinking when I was considering whether to buy her album of not. I convinced myself into thinking that her singing must be good if she is so famous and so brought her album. I listened to the album and did not feel anything, so I gave it another try, by now I must have listened to it more than 5 times but still the album does not speak for itself and prove that it was worth buying. This is because the album is like one long song, not one song stands out amounst the rest and her voice is simply not good enough to make her as high up as she is. Her voice is not strong enough for the fast beat songs and I cannot feel any emotions that she has put into her slow songs, everyting is coming from the mouth and not the heart and through the throat. Maybe I am old fashion as I prefer Sammi and Kelly between the female artists of HK, but I am only 17 and this album simply does not feel fresh or classic, it is stuck in between. However I will still give Joey's future music a try, but in the meantime she needs to work on her voice, singing techniques and songs if she is to rank as high as Sammi and Kelly.

July 1, 2001 Where the 1 mark was lost? Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
Andy Hui has come a long way since he started in the early 90's, and now more than 10 years since he first made his name, he has proven that he is worth his mark in the HK music industry. His singing techniques has changed and improved since the beginning and he has a much stronger voice now. This Concert Cd contains a selection of Andy's song from the past 3 or so years, this is good because then it will not be similar to his previous Concert Cds (98 and 99). I can understand why people may not want to buy this, because it is similar to his compilation released before the Concert, but if you are a fan of live music, Andy or still choosing whether to buy this then BUY IT! The first song is the theme song of the concert and Andy delivers it successfully to the audience pleasure, track two is a medley of dances songs, the songs are not his but it was well sang by him and lifted the mood of the concert. Tracks 3, 6, 8, 13 and 14 are the 'Andy style' love songs that we girls fall upon, and tracks 4, 7, 9 and 16 are the more recent songs that he released with some slow and fast, which were all sang well with a firm voice. His duets with his guests in tracks 10, 11 and 12 were very impressive, his voice worked well with Eason's to provides a very romantic feel for 'Desperado'. Tracks 5 and 15 were the older songs of Andy but they are like the classics and could not be forgotten. The Concert was gracefully finished with his new song (Track 16), which in a way sounds like an anthem. Basically if you buy this, then expect the Andy style songs and concert. Do not go buying this and complain that there ae too many slow songs, because Andy is mainly a love song singer. Well then why is it that I give it 9 and not 10 if I praise it so much? Simply because it is not enough, I feel that Go-East editted it too much, I wished it had of been a double Cd and contained more from his concerts. There should have been more songs from the concert on the Cd, a bit more talking from Andy rather than pure singing and maybe a few more guests appearances. Andy really deserves the success his is getting and this Concert can be seen as a reward to him and his supporters for the great music that will always be appreciated for.
