Brilliant ensemble cast Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
"My Dream Boat" is a solid four-hankie weeper with fine performances from all in its stellar cast.

The story starts simply enough. A group of friends who have met for a Christmas party decide to go on a hunting trip in the mountains together. Two of the friends, Yang Fan and Lily Ho, are engaged to be married. However, while hiking in the mountains, Lily's character begins to develop feelings for macho Chin Han. Perhaps we can think of this as being like the biblical story of the first sin committed in the Garden of Eden. And just as that first sin had profound consequences, the growing love between Lily Ho and Chin Han leads to dramatic consequences for everyone.

I found the performances by Jing Li and Yang Fan to be particularly affecting. Even when Miss Jing is just in the background with no lines in a scene, she remains in character and continues to convey a complex mix of emotions. Yang Fan is brilliant in his haunted, self-destructive role.

I found some of the songs interjected into the movie to be a bit jarring and I wondered why they shot some of the mountain scenes against an obviously fake backdrop, but these are minor quibbles. "My Dream Boat" is a gripping, well-written, and well-acted, almost Shakespearean tale that I highly recommend.

Lily Ho Masterpiece Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This movie starts out with one of the most pretty songs i have ever heard. An old man crafting a boat that will later symbolize the meaning of the film.Although this film was made in 1967, and Lily had only been in a few films prior to this(Hong Kong Nocturne...etc.)her acting here is superb. In fact, the entire cast really sucks you into the film and all of the tragedies surrounding Lily, Chia Wen and of course the always talented Ching Li.The story flows really well and the 125 minute running time is actually perfect. All of the stories set out in this film get resolved whether in a positive way, or for some end in tragedy. In my opinion this is one of Lily's best representations of how skillfull she is as an actress.

My dream boat Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I watched this movie when I was very young so didn't have much recollection until I got this DVD a few weeks ago. It is interesting to find how good the actings were compared with the new waves of Hong Kong or Taiwanese movies. The director was good, unlike the current director who think you can only entertain the audience with bad jokes and slapstick. Perhaps the new directors should watch more of the Shawn Brother movies to restore their standards.

My Dream Movie Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I saw this movie about 35 years ago but I never forgot the storyline or the people who acted in it. It was such a touching show that everything is still very clear to me. The plot is SO realistic.... The love entanglements could happen to just anyone in this world.

Chin Han and Lily Ho were the lucky couple in the movie. I remember vividly Ching Li and Yangfan were the two most pitiful characters in the movies and they portrayed the characters so well. My heart went out to these two people.

A highly recommended movie to enjoy and keep... Standby your tissues .... you will definitely be touched and moved to tears.....by the story and the theme song.

I will never forget this movie for as long as I live.Must buy!

This is one of the best movies which stars Lily Ho Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I first watched this movie when I was aged 9 with my elder sister. At that time, I am already so attracted by her beauty. In this movie, she protrayed the character as Tang Ker Sin. Her performance was so outstanding, and she was nominated Best Actress in the Asian Festival, but she lost to a Korean actress.

This is one of the best movie and performance when Lily Ho was in SB.

The title song, "My Dream Boat" was very sentimental, and was sung by Mona Fong, which was now Mrs Shaw.

Another unforgotten character was Yuen Chun, he was the father of Yang Fan and Lin Chia in this movie.

I could not get this DVD in Spore, so I fly to HK to buy this DVD for my SB Collection.

It is strongly recommended for Lily Ho's fans.
This movie was from a novel which was written by famous Taiwan writer called Cheong Yao.
