YesAsia Editorial Description

My Lucky Stars (1985) can be considered as the second episode of a series of action comedy directed by Sammo Hung which begins with Winner and Sinners. Just like Winner and Sinners, My Lucky Stars mixes Chinese kung fu and Western-style gun fight into one entertaining title, with much comedy added. Jackie Chan stars as an Interpol agent who is after a criminal in Tokyo. Failing his assignment so badly that even his assistant (Yuen Biao) gets kidnapped, he calls Hong Kong police chief Walter Tso to ask for assistance from his orphanage buddies (Sammo Hung, Eric Tsang, Richard Ng, Stanley Fung, and Charlie Chin). The five "Lucky Stars" then departs for their Tokyo mission... Filled with action sequences by such great stars as Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, and Yuen Biao, My Lucky Stars is no lack of laughter which will keep the audience entertained. A typical Hong Kong action comedy in the 1980s that fans must not miss!

I'm lucky Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I must have viewed this movie about 30x and just discovered I haven't given it a review. So, here goes.

Seems to be a follow-up winning formula for Sammo Hung after Winners & Sinners. It's a simple plot punctuated in=between with non-sensical ideas & goofy gimmicks that makes this movie a winner for me.

Jackie & Yuen Biao (both cameo) play interpol undercover agents hot on the trail of ex-crooked cop who had fled to Japan to join forces with their Japanese associates in illegal money laundering through gambling dens, etc . After YB was kidnapped, Jackie reported to undercover-agents coordinator police chief, Walter Cho, for reinforcement. The idea is to have new faces that the ex-cop can't recognise and so infiltrate their hideout. Result : Jackie's old buddies from the orphanage... ...Sammo, Stanley Fung, Richard Ng, Charlie Chin & Eric Tsang.

So enter Plan A . Sammo & gang havent been in any female company for a while and drools at the idea of having Sibelle for a whole week at the safe house during their briefing. Their hairbrain schemes brought some side-splitting gags. Plan B, assist Jackie and infiltrate the gambling den in Japan by pretending to be robbers (just after their last heist) on the run from the HKG police. With Jackie working on the side, they succeeded in rescuing Yuen Biao as well as caught the crooked cop.

Watch out when Sammo KO Nishiwaki Michiko, and Jackie had a run-in with Dicky Wei in the finale. The opening stunt had Jackie climbing & leaping from the ferris wheel and then performing a flying-over a container truck driving only a little car (with Yuen Biao as passenger). This particular scene has been featured in many of Jackie's special interviews.

Get it, for old-time's sake!!

Excellent!! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I love this movie. Movies in the 80's era was at it's best. This was a good example. It had great action and comedy. Although the plot was thin, it was still very entertaining. I recommend this movie to people that understand cantonese or else you wouldn't understand the comedy. The comedy is strictly intented for Hong Kong Viewers.

Not really a three brothers film, but good enough Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
Both Jackie and Yuen are almost cameos. It is mostly about Sammo and his other criminal friends, including Eric Tsang, notably from "Hitman". The help try to find the baddies who kidnap Yuen.

Overall, the action rocks however. Especially at the end with all of the Lucky Stars, Sibelle Hu, Jackie and Yuen beating down the baddies or just getting beat the baddies. Sibelle is cool in this flick and Fong Sai Yuk, where she played the mom of Ting Ting, Michelle Reis's character.
