beep-beep-beep-beep-beep Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
So she shaked her hips to open the show with Hide-n-Seek; the dominatrix in MV was at large on stage. How excited was I to see her with a whip. Fantasy came true (and comes true every time I watch the show). She brought Butterfly to life with her cute-n-sexy dancing; beep-beep-beep-beep-beep.. was my favourite part of the song. Next she put on miniskirt and a hat to mesmerize fans with Darling/Come. I loved the disco-trance atmosphere of Come; its like hearing some 80s music done in Namie's style. Luvotomy was a show of inspired costume, choreography and stage design that would not be repeated in later concerts. The whole concert was like a theatre show. And she never stopped shaking her hips throughout the show except when singing a ballad. Amazing hips! Pink Key was the best encore of any concert; she also looked stunningly beautiful in casual attire. Then she saved the best for last with a haunting rendition of Can-You-Celebrate, mixing acapella and acoustic. This performance is the definitive rendition of the song, and better than the original-1997 version. A consummate performer was Namie, with or without a whip.

PLAY-concert is the best of her concert DVDs. The relatively small stage has its advantage. It showcase the best choreography, costume and stage design of her career. Best-Fiction-concert, as recorded in Taipei on DVD, is more like a carnival than a Namie-style affair. I enjoy it less as time passes. Past-Future-concert is a genuine Namie-style show thats as good as Play-concert, but the latter contains two very personal favourites: Namie-doing-dominatrix and Namie-doing-unplugged.

Incredible performance, poor presentation Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Hehehe...ummm..is Avex tight on the budget for Namie Amuro? Koda Kumi's 2007 tour had a HUGE stage with great effects in the Tokyo Dome! Ayumi Hamasaki's 2007 tour had a GIGANTIC stage and even traveled outside of Japan. I expected The Funky Town to have come alive in Namie's "Play Tour 2007"! However, I don't think she's had this small and cheap of a stage in many years. The setlist was incredible, the outfits were so cute, and Namie delivered like never before. Yet, the stage looked low-budget & poorly prepared. It was disappointing that Avex didn't go out of their way for Ms. Amuro considering she made heaps of money from her 2007 album & singles. (T_T) The performance itself was Namie at her absolute best and actually giving it her all like she hasn't done in sooo long! She sounded almost exactly like the CD even while dancing. She smiled and glowed while performing difficult dance routines and still held her own! (^.^) She could've done without the dancers and still put on an incredible show. It's my all-time favorite Namie Amuro DVD. Yes, the stage setup & effects were disappointing, but Namie made this show worth the time. I had started to think maybe my money would've been better spent on something other than the "Play" album, but Namie reminded me of the energy & fun that made the album worth owning. I got into it & really really enjoyed it! (^___^) I'm so happy I didn't neglect watching this. It was a big improvement from all her past shows as far as dancing and live vocals! (n_n) Can't wait for her BEST FICTION Tour!!!!!

Playful all throughout Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I've watched this tour many times already, and I still enjoy it very much. I do admit the energy in this concert is not as immense as Space of Hip-Pop, but I still found the majority of it to be entertaining. When people say Namie shows very little emotion when she performs, can you really imagine her smiling while performing songs like "WANT ME, WANT ME"? Personally I think that would be creepy. Considering the majority of her songs are now hip-hop, and some songs like "Put 'Em Up" have the girl power theme, I don't think smiling is necessarily appropriate. When she performs her older songs however, you do see her emotion and enjoyment. And the fact that she has to memorize over a dozen routines, dance in high heels, sing, and maintain a good overall performance throughout is highly admirable and reason enough to appreciate her as a performer.

Loved it! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I watched it, and loved it. Full of excitement and they put curiosity when they stop playing music and everyone's chanting. Like, you just want to guess the song. Her vocals are great, she has an amazing voice. The dancing was cute, fun, and she sang with the crowd, a lot of times, holding her microphone out. I LOVED IT!

I love it! Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
I only ordered this DVD after I have watched the "play more!" live in Taiwan and I have to say I like this live most among all her other live performances.

The songs are great, with cute outfits and perfect dancing performance. In the Taiwan concerts she sang the 3 songs from "60s 70s 80s" too! I am praying if avex can include this performance in any of her later CDs... Although this dvd didn't include these 3 new songs, I still love it a lot.

And about the emotion thing, I also think Namie does get nervous when she performs..especially dancing and singing with that high heels. I don't mind she seems lack of emotion when she is performing as long as her dance and singing were almost perfect. I bought the ticket of the concert to watch her performances, not her personal emotions. In addition when she was smiling and waving to the auidences, also when she looks embarrassed when trying to speak in mandarin, she looks so sweet and kawaii!

It's My Opinion.... Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I'm sorry...I know it's their opinion, but I do not agree with the last two reviews. I thought the concert was just as good as Space of Hip Pop and Live Style 2006. I think Namie is a good performer. She's just as good as the rest of them. I do agree that she doesn't show much emotion when she does perform, but hey we don't know if it's nerves cuz even if you are in the business for 15 years, 2 years, and so on, performers still become nervous because you never know...things still can go wrong.

I disagree with the off stage and on stage personality that ignored_truth said about Namie. Alot of performers are different on and off stage. She has nothing to do with this, but Beyonce is like that. Before anyone gets mad, I am not comparing the two as far as music and performing because they are two completely DIFFERENT ARTISTS, and they have their own style, but when Beyonce is off stage she is all reserved and calm, but when she's on stage she is a completely different person. There is alot of performers that are different on and off stage.

Anyways, I do like the song choices, and the dance routines were better. I think the outfits she wore were not as impressive as Live Style 2006, but they were still cute. I think she should have done a routine to "Pink Key." Mainly, overall I thought it was pretty good. I enjoyed it, and that's all it matters, so if you like it, you like it, and if you don't, you don't.

Alright Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
I have to agree with Ingnored Truth review this concert dvd is not any different than her other concert dvds. I own the two before this and I don't see anything different. I want to see her smile or at least look like she is enjoying her self. She doesn't really show any emotion when she sings. Her voice and her facial expressions do not match. I mean come on when you watch a concert dvd you want to see excitement and to see that the artist is enjoying be able to perform. She doesn't show anything. Sure she smiles and looks like having a little fun but I expect more coming from a person who likes to perform and has been in the business for 15 years. Anyways this concert dvd is alright. It's good to be able to see her perform all the songs from her play album which is her first number 1 album in 7 years and some songs that she hasn't peformed before like Come I really like that song.

Fails to impressive Customer Review Rated Bad 4 - 4 out of 10
Namie Amuro releases another concert DVD, but honestly, there's little difference between this one and her past ones. The stage setup is nice, the outfits are plain or OK, a great tracklist, but there's no spirit in her performance. Namie always looks exhausted in her shows, from beginning to end. The strain on her vocal chords is obvious with her stressed facial expressions, stiff body movements, and large amounts of sweat she sheds. The lights, dancers, and music does the work of carrying the show along. I like Namie's CD voice, but her live voice varies dramatically. She screeches and yells on many of her notes or she'll pull the microphone away a bit on the big notes to let her vocals be drowned out by the music or for the prerecording to take over. Her CD voice has been tampered with apparently by adding smoothing effects to give it that light and beautiful, sweet and soft sound. In reality, her vocals are much deeper and alot more rough. While her emotion is shown at times, it still is to be desired during upbeat performances. It seems she's focusing too much or thinking about other things because there is no joy in her dance movements. To take attention off of her bad deliverance of emotion and vocals, she looks beautiful in cute little skirts. I'll admit this DVD is more expressive than her last 2 tour DVDs, but it's still not quite the quality I'd expect from one of Japan's top artists. No wonder Ayumi Hamasaki easily stole her limelight.

EXCELLENT AND DESERVING!!! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
As promotion for her latest album Play her first album to get the #1 spot in 7 years since Genius 2000 this has furthermore placed her mark in the Japanese Music Industry as an established artist. This tour is by far one of her most memorable. Her use of PLAY(ing) in this concert is clever and simple. All songs from PLAY are included in this tour, and they are performed very well, with Namie even stating herself that It's All About You is a hard song to catch on to, she made it very impressive as she showed that she could pull it off, this concert combines high energy and doesn't let down until it finally ends.
