2000年から集英社刊「Cookie」に連載された矢沢あい原作による少女マンガ「NANA -ナナ-」。連載が始まるとすぐに大人気となり、2005年には宮崎あおい＆中島美嘉の主演で映画化、大ヒットを記録した。さらにCD、ゲームなどの"NANA"グッズも大人気となり、一大ブームを作り上げた。そんな「NANA -ナナ-」が遂にアニメ化。2006年4月から日本テレビ系にて放送され、大きな話題となった。上京する列車で偶然となりに座り出会った奈々とナナ。二人の交流と二人を取り巻く人々の恋や友情、夢へ向かう姿を、質の高いアニメーションで描いている。監督は「カードキャプターさくら」「ギャラクシーエンジェル」の浅香守生。ナナの歌声を歌唱キャストとして土屋アンナが担当するなど、音楽にも要注目だ。
