dont buy this album, buy 4real instead!!!
| i like crystal kay, i am going to buy her almost 17 Cd, but dont buy this album, its pointless and lazy the studio sony could have atleast done some newer songs. But instead its remixes of other artists previous songs, and her own songs in english. If ur a new fan buy 4REAL instead or her greatest hits Cd, or almost 17, please!!! your doing urself a uge favor!!! All of 4real's songs are good ^+^ |

Some things are better left untouched...

I love Crystal Kay. She truly is one of the most awesome artists I have ever heard in my lifetime, but I don't think it was wise to re-release her hits translated into english. There obviously wasn't enough work put into their content. This album is very similar to J[Korean-American Female Recording Artist]'s "Chocolate" album, where she pretty much did the same thing. I love the original songs in the language they were written for and recorded in... but when translated something is always lost. What's worse about Crystal's new CD is that sometimes it seems like she's rushing to fit lyrics where they don't go musically. Vocally she's amazing, I love the way she just tears up the riffs in "Boyfriend" [MFlo's remixed version] on this CD, but the lyrics feel rather generic and insipid. I'm Not Alone is my favorite song on her new Japanese CD [4REAL], but I feel that she murdered it on this English album. Crystal is growing and growing as an artist and she is truly unstoppable... However, this english album needed more time and thought put into it... and I feel that it was a mistake having released it in the condition it is in. It also sounds like her sound engineers didn't invest enough time in cleaning her vocals and mixing the sound as well to match the background tracks. I DO love her cover of Amel Larrieux's "Make Me Whole" which was included on her "Girl's Night" single [from her 2nd album "637 ~ Always and Forever"]... but you think with all the major improvements in her vocal ability over the years she would have spent a few hours in the studio to re-record it. It's a shame how something so hastily put together can make a truly talented singer look seem so ordinary and by American standards. Good Luck, Kuri, creative errors will happen in any person's career. I still believe in you am a dedicated fanatic regardless. If you are a Crystal Kay fan, this CD is a must buy simply because well... It's KURI~!!! If you aren't familiar with her work, I recommend her latest Japanese release "4REAL", which is truly an awesome piece of work. |

I mean seriously.....
| It's about time. Kuri's voice can rock the world, let alone Japan! She has the most accomplished voice in all of J-music and she is finally receiving the recognition she deserves.Im waiting for the tracks on this album to be played on all the commercial music radio stations in N.Y.C. And why is Kuri's album set to come out, yet Hikki is nowhere to be seen?....Anyway, good stuff and Kuri...Keep the music comin. |
