於2005年初，《沈默的羔羊》金像導演Jonathan Demme物色下一部電影題材，與Neil Young的經理人商討後，決定共同製作一部回顧Neil Young生涯的音樂電影。就在春天Neil Young發現自己得了腦瘤，手術前他在田納西的Nashville完成了備受好評的大碟《Prairie Wind》。手術後他復原良好，便邀請了當地樂手及一眾三五好友在當地著名的鄉村音樂殿堂Ryman Auditorium舉辦演出。
本片收錄了整個音樂會演出，當中Neil Young表演了整張大碟的歌曲及多首經典名曲包括《The Painter》、《Heart of Gold》及《Harvest Moon》等，同時導演透過鏡頭，捕捉表演者的情緒起伏及樂手之間的眼神交流，不將鏡頭瞄準舞台底下，所見景象與現場觀眾並無二致，營造出猶如現場觀眾的觀看氣氛。
