Jackie Chan leaves Hollywood behind and once again returns as Hong Kong's action hero! Jackie has starred in four previous Police Story films: including 1986's Police Story, Police Story II in 1988, Police Story III: Super Cop (1992) and Police Story IV: First Strike (1996). Police Story took home the Best Film and Best Action Choreography at the Hong Kong Film Awards back when it was released, and even though New Police Story does not feature the usual Jackie character, Kevin Chan Ka Kui, any viewer will know this can only be a Jackie Chan Police Story film!

The film employs all the techniques Benny Chan is famed for: chaotic situations, large explosions, and detailed characters. The plot is tense and rapid, with one explosive scene following another, yet never loses the human touch. We get to see a rare side of Jackie, as a man wrecked with guilt, as well as a loving husband to the character played by Charlie Young, finally returning to the big screen after a long hiatus. Benny managed to capture the tenderness rarely seen in a tough man like Jackie. Jackie himself also takes on the task of action choreographer with Lee Chi Chung and House of Chan martial artists to create the stunning fight scenes that make a Police Story film so memorable.

Heartthrob Daniel Wu takes on the challenging task of playing the main villain, and his "Gang of Five" are the ultimate destruction artists, giving the production a lot of "fun" with exciting destruction sequences. When they executed the police team led by Jackie's character Wing, many actors, including Deep Ng, were hung upside down 40 feet in the air for a few hours! Expect everything you should from a Jackie Chan film, and the result will still surprise you.

This is a landmark film in Hong Kong's famed action film genre, with a budget of $120 million Hong Kong dollars, and starring Jackie Chan, Charlie Young, Daniel Wu, Nicholas Tse and Charlene Choi! 　　Wing is the Hong Kong Police's resident super cop. He's the best of the best, cracking every case he handles in record time. Joe is the leader of The Gang Of Five. He uses shoot-'em-up videogames as his inspiration to create the most elaborate and deadly traps for the police. Wing and his team are trapped, and gunned down one by one. Only Wing himself escapes... Wing's colleagues are all dead, including Rocky, the younger brother of his girlfriend Ka Yee. He hides himself from Ka Yee and though still technically on the force, sinks into an abyss of alcoholism and despair. One night, Fung finds his idol lying dead drunk in the street, pulls him out of the gutter and brings him home. Fung sees in Wing a chance to live his dram, and pretends to be a cop assigned by Wing's superiors to help him hunt down the Gang of Five. Fung enlists the help of Fa Fa, a fresh, pretty young policewoman who runs the computer crimes division. She is Chemed by Fung and helps him track down Sam. Sam has left the police force, changed his name and gone into hiding at a local nightclub. Wing and Fung question the nervous Sam, and then, following up on a further up, go to a rooftop mountain bike X-games event. When the Gang members realize they have been rumbled, San is shot dead...
