The film's story revolves around Ninja Hittori-kun, who travels to Edo in hopes of furthering his skills only to find that it has become modern day Tokyo. Working the classic "fish out of water" theme skilfully (think the original Beverly Hillbillies television series), the story finds Hattori-kun in an unending array of amusing and and at times wickedly subtle situations that are sure to get a laugh from old and new fans.

The comic NIN X NIN Ninja Hattori-kun is the definitive work of Fujiko Fujio A. A weekly feature in the popular Japanese magazine Shonen, it was made into a live-action television show in 1966. In 1981 it was adapted for a cartoon series that ran for a whopping 694 episodes and spawned the catchphrase "Nini". One of Japan's all-time anime classics.

This Premium Edition includes a bonus DVD, which includes NIN X NIN Hiden no maki, a making-of featurette, NIN X NIN Kenichi-shi Yuri Chinen 400nichi no Daiboken; a special television program that has been re-edited; interviews with director Suzuki Masayuki and stars Katori Shingo and Tanaka Reina, not to mention many other bonuses like trailers, TV spots and cast and crew files.
