Based on real events, No Kidding is a hilarious comedy about a ragtag group of farming villagers going all out to make a movie. Elderly villager San Ye enjoys recounting the stories of the Japanese soldiers' invasion of the village during the Sino-Japanese War. The kids just laugh, thinking it's just some tall tales from a bored old man. In order to preserve the painful memories for the next generations, Youcai (Li Yixiang, Blind Shaft) not only turns San Ye's stories into a screenplay, he actually plans to film it with himself as director and cameraman, and the entire village as his cast and crew! So the barber becomes the stylist, the carpenter is the prop master, the tailor plays the costume designer, and the quarryman as the pyrotechnician. They use radishes in place of grenades, pumpkins as landmines, and tomato juice doubling for blood... Tons of problems arise during the eventful filming, so how can these amateur filmmakers finish their movie?
