Love it & Hate it!!!

Okay a few spoilers are in this review so be warned … This is one confusing TV series!!!! It follows the story of two high school students, the popular Shuji who secretly hates his popularity and Akira who is this really bizarre outcast. Both of these guys I think are in J Pop bands… either way they excellent eye candy!!! Anyway …..When a new female student arrives, and is immediately bullied, the two band together for ‘project makeover the wild pig’ (a really unflattering nickname they give to the girl). Their goal is to turn her from zero to school idol so it is a bit like the film She’s All That!!!! Okay, now the series starts really well, I think the acting for a TV series is top rate and the characters are very interesting and believable. Shuji is popular but underneath he is scared of rejection, Akira is utterly bizarre but is really sensitive and wise. The friendship between the three grows as they try to boost Wild Pig’s popularity through various wacky events like making a ghost house for the school festival, selling wild pig keychains or launching wild pig’s TV début … all with hilarious consequences!!!! As well as comedy other reviewers have mentioned the thought behind each episode. They do really make you think about things like friendships and about how you think of others and what they may in fact be hiding about themselves. This kind of thoughtful moral element is quite refreshing within a TV series and it is one of the things that make it initially addictive to watch. But when you hit about the sixth episode things start to fall apart and the series turns from enjoyable to just plain annoying. Without saying too much one of the guys inevitably falls for wild pig and you wait and wait for him to tell her but he never does, there is a ridiculously evil girl trying the sabotage the makeover but it never really tells you why she is doing this, and the ending ….. I could have really screamed over as the two guys swan off to another school and leave the wild pig on her own despite one of them loving her and despite this supposedly fantastic friendship they have made between them. The idea is a good one and is started well but it is like the writers ran out of ideas and rushed out an ending that is REALLY unsatisfying. If you are a fan of teen, school, Japanese TV you will enjoy this but don’t have any expectations about the ending because you will be disappointed. |

YAMAPI'S best performance ever
|
If you want to see a new side of Yamapi's acting, you should definetely watch this!!! its soo unusual to see Pi in such a role where in he's sooo lively and adorable!!!! So you will surely shout "kawaii neh" upon watching this.. The finale thou, if your expecting romantic ending you will be somewhat disappointing coz Pi (a.k.a. Akira ) left Maki behind to follow Shuji coz i friendship is given more importance in this story rather than love. Overall, a purchase you won't regret esp if your a yamaki fan. |

wow..i heard of this drama recommendation from my friends..and boy..this is one good drama!! storyline: 2 guys trying to make a girl popular at their school it might sounds a bit typical and boring..but it's very very hilarious...i was hooked onto this drama after the first episode...kame & yama put a wonderful performance..i especially like yama's character (akira)..he was very into it..acting all goofy..saying ridiculous things..lol..nobuta's character was interesting too...a lot of emotion and expression was put into the filming..i find her character quite hard to act..but it didn't disappoint me..^^ wht i also like about this drama is the things they say in each episode..even though there's only 10 episode..every episdoe..they say something really meaninngful..it really got to me..and started thinking a lot..about relationships and life in general..it relaly touched me i would recommend this to anybody..i'm sure it'll make u laugh! too bad there's only 10 episodes..wished there were more..ooh..the only thing i dind't like about this drama was the ending..the ending doesn't really flow w/everything that was going on..and it wasn't a totally happy ending too..but overall..10/10..love this drama |

"Nobuta wo Produce" stars Kamenashi Kazuya, Yamashita Tomohisa, and Maki Horikita. Shuji (Kamenashi) and Akira (Yamashita) are best friends who attend the same high school. They both want to help the new transfer student who is constantly being picked on by school bullies and has no confidence to speak up, that student is Kotani Nobuko (Maki). They give her a make-over and go shopping with her to buy new clothes and help her to create a new image. They nickname her 'Nobuta'. After this make-over, Shuji and Akira "promotes" her through a reality tv show and making little pig trinkets to sell. At first it was kind of slow in the beginning. Then in disc 3, the show started to get more interesting and then the pace picked up quite quickly. This is a good show about friendship and trying to fit in. |
