Another one of Jet's best Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Certainly another one of Jet's best. Here he portrayed a young north -Shaolin monk, harbouring thoughts of seeking revenge for his parents who were killed by the Governor. Unbeknown to him, there's also a girl having the same plans cause her father was also killed by the governor. However, she's from the south Shaolin temple. The twist in the plot was that they were betrothed from birth. In the midst of an eventual assassination attempt, both met up and became friends. Much to the initial horror of his masters (thou shall not kill), they eventually came to see Jet's cause.....

Fighting choreography by legendary director/sifu Lau Kar Leung brought forth a fantastic display of many Shaolin techniques (a couple of them by real sifus) in the fight sequences, Jet's power, flexibility and magic in his skills (real stuff with no camera tricks) were amazing.

Put this in your collection to follow Jet's rise in his career.

This customer review refers to Martial Arts Of Shaolin
The title says it all... Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
"Martial Arts of Shaolin" tells of a young Shaolin monk, played by Jet Li in his third film, who seeks revenge against the governor of Henan, who bears responsibility for the death of his mother. Naturally, his yearning for revenge doesn't sit well with his seniors at Shaolin, but they cannot prevent him from occasionally leaving Shaolin in futile attempts to assassinate the governor. Along the way the young monk meets a girl who has the same objective -- killing the governor -- and he learns that his mother wished for him to marry this girl.

Will the young monk succeed in his mission or will he bow to his masters? Will the masters continue to discourage him or will they come to see his cause as just? Will the young monk leave the monastery to marry the girl? These are the questions addressed by this action-packed, if uneven, film.

It is an absolute delight to see the young Jet Li work his martial arts magic in this movie. He was so quick, so powerful, so agile, and so flexible, that he does things that look like they could only be done with special effects ... only you know that he actually is doing them without effects. He takes your breath away.

The film's attempts at humor don't always work and some of the character development is crude, but let's face it -- you aren't watching this film for that stuff; you are watching it for the martial arts. And the martial arts are spectacular, not just by Jet Li, but by several extraordinarily accomplished fighters showing off their skills.

"Martial Arts of Shaolin" is recommended for all fans of Jet Li and of eye-popping kung fu skills.
