出身於單親家庭的基斯杜化年少時無心向學，靠在街頭販毒來混日子。偶然一次在酒吧上獻技，他那深沉但放鬆的唱腔、順暢多音節而押韻，且不瘟不火的密集字詞被唱片公司製作人賞識，隨後更被簽為歌星出碟，讓他成為了美國東岸Rap壇的靈魂人物，展開其短暫而輝煌的音樂生涯，大放異彩。可惜隨著東西岸的Rap壇競爭白熱化，兩岸的鬥爭愈見激烈，其後一宗劫殺案更令基斯杜化被捲入仇殺的風暴中，終於在1997年不幸遭槍殺，享年僅24歲，令一代傳奇神話幻滅。
