Great family movie Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
In "The Way Home...", a stressed-out single mom drops her bratty seven year old son off for the summer months with an elderly grandmother he doesn't know. The spoiled city kid is like a fish out of water in his grandmother's rustic country home. And his mute, bent-over grandmother soon becomes the object of his seemingly ceaseless wrath. The good-hearted granny just lets the kid's constant abuse roll off of her, as she makes every sacrifice in her attempts to make him happy. Will she finally succeed in winning the boy's heart? And will the boy ever be able to befriend the country kids who he treats as bumpkins?

"The Way Home...", for American viewers, has the feel of a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie, telling a sentimental tale of a grandmother's unconditional love and of a rebellious boy learning valuable life lessons. It proves to be a very involving formula, as the audience wonders whether the child ever will come to the end of his recalcitrance. This is the kind of warm-hearted family story that creates an indelible impression and holds important messages for us all. It clearly was the inspiration for the equally excellent Japanese film, "Gabai Granny". "The Way Home..." is a wonderful, engaging movie for the whole family.

A very thouchy movie Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
They played this movie on TV this afternoon and I was hooked till the end. The plot is quite simple and the number of actors is probably only 5 or so. However, this is a very, very touchy movie. In the movie you will see how difficult life can be for some people; and yet they face it gracefully. The lady who plays the deaf/mute old lady is very impressive. Is she actually deaf/mute in real life? Now I would like to order this DVD to add to my collection.

Simple touching story between grandma/grandson Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
It is an impressive movie. Not only you see the interaction between generations, you also see how lives in different economic envirnment interact with each other. The grand son grew up in the city with modern western culture influence, while the grandma has been living in the countryside where people have to go to wells to get fresh water everyday.

A simple movie describing the basic emotion and loving relationship among us that penetrates culture barriers. No matter what background you are from, you will find this movie very touching, and it makes you want to give your grandma a call to talk to her if she is still alive. Or anyone you care about but have been taking them for granted.

Inspirational Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
It doesnt get any better than this, no explosions, no rape, no hip-hop, just a slow moving tale of wisdom that gets better and better until it becomes the best film Ive seen in two years. A Korean grandma shows us the meaning of patience and total unselfishness. If you have a soul and have not been completely jaded by Western cinema, see the Way Home. Profound subltey, I cant stop thinking about this film, two wonderful perfomances, cant wait to see it again.
