Director Chen Daming, trained in the Hollywood for almost a decade, amuses Chinese movie fans with this black comedy. Li Yixiang from the acclaimed Blind Shaft stars as opera singer Ma San. He loses his job with the accidental death of the director of the troupe. Unskilled in any trade except Henan Opera, Ma San spends all his time on cockfighting. The film revolves around Ma San and his pals, who are also left jobless after the disbanding of the troupe, and details how they handle this difficult situation. In a series of almost incredible coincidences, Ma San and his pals seem to cross path with luck and fortune... or is it just an illusion?

　　劇團三兄弟：馬三、劉兵和四海，是三個以戲曲為生的中年男子，盡管不斷為生存奔波和掙扎、卻因為劇團最終的不景氣，先後失業。一輩子只會“唱戲”的他們，唱不了戲，生活中也失去了平衡。

　　馬三失業後，沒事做，只她把鬥雞作為生存手段。妻子大紅一人分做兩份工。卻一心想著出國。馬三擔心家庭無保，卻始終不能滿足妻子的需求。四海和妻子素梅本是團裡的臺柱子，演不了戲後，素梅去深圳發展，四海販起了狗，夫妻間漸漸有了無人打破的秘密。只有劉兵靠老丈人的錢開了照相館，擁有完美的妻子秋菊。可他卻不滿足只是一個業餘攝影師，不知不覺的讓生活泛起了波瀾。
