After pulling heartstrings with Cecilia Cheung in 2003's tear-jerker Lost in Time, director Derek Yee once again joins forces with Cecilia, together with Daniel Wu, to deliver a compelling story One Nite in Mongkok.

Knowing that killer from the Mainland Loy (Daniel Wu) is sneaking into Hong Kong, the Chief Inspector of Criminal Intelligence Sir Mil begins searching for Loy. Loy, who simply comes to Hong Kong in search of his wife, runs into a secret agent and is referred a job. Unexpectedly, it is a killing job that Loy receives, which entangles himself with the killings of two major traids gangs. Targeted by both the cop and the traids, Loy holding in hand the pistol and the cash reward comes across Dan (Cecilia Cheung), a hooker from the Mainland making money in Mongkok…

　　Mongkok, one of the most densely populated areas in the world, is the hotbed of illicit business. Lai Fu (Daneil Wu) a farm boy from Mainland China, is hired as a killer and is forced to enter into the coincidence of gangs of Mongkok. Lai Fu by chance meets a call girl from his home village, Dan(Cecillia Cheung), and saves her from the gangsters. The arrival of Lai Fu tenses the police and the triad. Under flashy neon lights, Lai Fu and Dan are rummaged around in Mongkok by police and gangsters. Who will find them first, the lawful force or the lawless one?

Very touching Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
Sad ending but the storyline is quite interesting. Cecilia Cheung , i believe is not suited to play the pimp. She quite pretty for the role so it made her acting un convincing. Anyhow, it's a little violent but the story is nice. Worth watching.

Zenith of HK production Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
This movie has it all. Love, crime, murder, violence, friendship, betrayal, greed, revenge thoughtfully paced out within 48hrs before Christmas day. The trival petty gang squabble leading to murder plot on the local gang leader is unlike anything i have seen from HK productions. Set in the busy backdrop on one of the busiest urban scene, Mr Yee captured essence of the phlight of mainland chinese struggling in HK. The tension masterminded by the darker side of human nature. With clashed sentiments towards the good and the bad it is at times we question who the good guys really are. I was taken aback by the story let alone by the top notch cinematography and excellent sound editing. Kudos to Cecilia Cheung who demostrated top class act with her role esp with her mandarin that truly echoed the voice of her character. Congratulations to Mr Derek Yee whose vision seems to sharpen by age. I cannot wait for another quality movie from his directions. This is a gripping tale, an adrenaline rush ride for any movie lovers.

Excellent Hong Kong Film Noir Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
This is a depressing & gritty film noir about a hitman & a prostitute and their misadventures in Mongkok. Various incidents involving venal vices & sins lead to violent & mean encounters among the ordinary denizens and the police. All these streams of human existence merge together inexorably into a multi-layered tragedy played out in the dead of night. Even if a person does not pay with their life, no one escapes physically or emotionally unscarred on this Christmas Eve in Mongkok. A tragic movie with tiny momemts of tenderness and humanity but also big gulps of human ugliness & cruelty. Fine performances by a great cast. Very convincing with lots of atmospheric locations. A Must See film.

Well this film will be much better if we could hear Cecilia's orignial voice in Mandarin. Come on Derek Y do you think we don't know that her voices are dubbed?

Great movie!!! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I watched this movie 2 times and I love it
It's really worth buying it
Now it's one of my favourite movies, not only because of Daniel, but because it's an extraordinary movie.
I think in that movie Daniel really shows that he can act, which means he changes with his character.
He's not a nice guy any more.
On the other hand the action in this movie is very interesting, it shows how a little thing can become a huge fight between so many people.
However what I like most about this movie is that it shows HK :)
