With their marriage on the rocks, middle-aged couple Yoshie (Higuchi Kanako) and Yuji (Taguchi Tomorowo) receive an invitation to attend the final screening at the closing Orion Cinema where they met as kids. The invitation awakens their memories, bringing them back to the 1950s and that neighborhood movie house called Orion. Back then, the theater was run by grumpy manager Matsuzo (Uzaki Ryudo) and his gentle wife Toyo (Miyazawa Rie). Nerdy film aficionado Tomekichi (Kase Ryo) soon begins working at the theater as an apprentice, but he is forced to take over after Matsuzo's unexpected departure. Quietly running the cinema together, Tomekichi and Toyo's relationship grows closer and closer over time under curious neighborhood eyes.
