Simply Entertainment
| Oops! I got mixed up with the characters. There's no Qiao Hong in this show. Sorry but my comments about Julie Yeh and Lin Cui still stand. I think their eldest sister is very good-looking too. As usual, good acting from all. |

Simply entertainment
| Though there is nothing very much to the story, I like it - simple and entertaining. Yeh Feng is really so beautiful and that Qiao Hong, OH, he is a killer! As for Lin Cui, she's really suited to the role. Another good afternoon matinee. |

Superb family drama
| "Our Sister Hedy" is a charming evocation of the interactions between four sisters, a story told with warmth and unusual honesty. It reminds me a bit of "Eat Drink Man Woman" and, of course, of "Little Women". The actress Lin Cui was a revelation; you can't take her eyes off her in this film. Yeh Feng's role keeps the movie from becoming saccharine. Her performance as a man-eating siren is bewitching; it is thrilling to see her character finally grow and change. My one gripe is the technique occasionally employed in the movie of ending scenes abruptly by having the screen go black. This technique, which I've scene employed in other Cathay films, is jarring and distracting. But that is a very minor cavil. This movie is a joy to watch from start to finish. Highly recommended. |

What a Brilliant Movie
| This has got to be the Best & most entertaining Chinese Movie that I've ever seen. You will laugh and also cry. It is THAT good. I fell in love with that cute brilliant actress LIN CUI. The song she sings in the film is so catchy and so nice. She's so wonderful in this superb movie classic. Don't miss this gem! |

Landmark film puts HK in international film world
|
"Our Sister Hedy" was the first Chinese film to win the top award in an international film festival, this was really the first Hongkong film to gain recognition outside the Chinese-speaking world. I remember vividly how proud it was to be a Chinese in Manila that year when the film was crowned "BEST PICTURE" in the Asian Film Festival which up to that time had been awarding Japanese, Philippine movies the major awards, Chinese films (be they from Taiwan or Hongkong seemed not to be taken seriously among the judges) had finally made the grade among the international film festival circuits. Looking at the movie today, what is timeless was the acting of the four actresses who played the four sisters. Lin Cui, Yeh Fung , Mu Hung and Su Fong were all so lovable even when were bad. The film also showed how "westernized" a Chinese family can be, which only points to the eternal truth that people from everywhere all have the same aspirations and family problems whether they dressed or talk differently. You will laugh and cry with these sisters no matter how many times you have seen this movie....Highly RECOMMENDED. |

Light comedy with a tinge of emotions...
|
Four sisters with four different characters, well portrayed by Mu Hong, Julie Yeh Feng, Jeanette Lin Cui, and SuFeng. Both Julie and Jeanette were outstanding in showing exact opposite behaviorism. Wang Yuan Long as the concerned and worried father is adequately good, a total different look from his usual villan and vicious character. A good Cathay classic.... funny and sad in turn. Recommended. |
