2001年10月からテレビ東京系列などで放送され、大ヒットを記録したスポーツ・アニメ「テニスの王子様」。『週刊少年ジャンプ』に連載された許斐剛の同名人気コミックをベースに、テニスの名門校に入学したクールな天才少年の活躍を描いて好評を博した。
本作は、その大人気アニメがさらにパワーアップした、OVAの第2シリーズ。人気急上昇のライバル校・四天宝寺中が登場し、さらに白熱する全国大会準決勝の様子を追っている。OVAならではのハイクオリティなアニメーションで、ナニワの超異色ダブルスに挑む、桃城と海堂の戦いを鮮やかに活写していく。

青学は手塚をダブルスに使うという、予想外のオーダーを組んだ。それに対し、四天宝寺は、退部したと思われていた千歳が出場。手塚・乾と千歳・財前のダブルスは、手塚と千歳の究極奥義のぶつかり合いとなる…。
