It's a classic
| This is my favourite amongst the 3 parts. Saw the first parter in 1993 and was introduced to UFO films, which were a breath of fresh air to the HK movie industry. Not many sequels can surpass the first, but I think this one does. Fantastic ensemble of cast with excellent acting, from the young leads to parent figures, and Eileen Tung is whimsical! She's the type that teen guys would dream of going out with. As the object of Bo's fantasy in this second parter, I am surprised the scriptwriter wrote for her character to materialise as Bo's girlfriend. Then again, it's a movie and the industry being a dream factory, you make dreams come true. Yet the film stays realistic, not only with the very real-life issues that the young protagonist has to deal with but issues pertaining to the heart as well. First loves are difficult to let go of, forget and move on... hence his wanting to bid the "alien girlfriend" goodbye and return to "earth"... And the music..... Glenn Frey's tune is unforgettable here. Now I can't hear it without reminiscing about this film. Re-watching this movie again more than 10 years since its release, it still works it magic. It's a classic... timeless. |
