知人の死をきっかけに、盲導犬訓練士学校へ入学し。晴れて准盲導犬訓練士となった小山内剛。彼が初めて担当を受け持つ訓練犬のチエは、生後２ヶ月でパピーウォーカーと呼ばれる育ての親、長谷川家に預けられ、１０ヶ月間暮らしてきた。そんな愛情を持って育ててくれた長谷川家を忘れられないチエと通い合えず、困り果てる剛。やがて、パートナーシップを築くには純粋に相手を好きになること、心を通わせることが何より大切だと知るのだった。そんなある日、ライブ中の事故で失明したシンガーの真琴が訓練センターを訪れる。盲導犬を希望するも固く閉ざした彼女の心を解きながら一緒に訓練に励む剛とチエ。こうして、盲導犬資格試験に合格したチエは剛のもとを離れ、真琴のパートナーとして新生活を始めることとなるが…。
