Excellent Cd Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I just recently became a fan of Chet Lam and purchased this cd. It was everything I expected of him and more. His songs are soothing and comfortable. He is not an exceptionally good singer, but his voice is soft and appealing to listen to. He is something new and fresh to the HK music industry, as there is no one else like him. The songs in this album are refreshing and like like a breath of fresh air. Track 5, 6, and 10 are my favourites. He composes all of his music and writes the majority of his lyrics. His lyrics revolve around his daily life and are meaningful to me. Overall, a great album, and a must have.

Pillow Songs... the best overall album Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
My friend gave me this CD for my birthday last year. I really did not expect much, in truth, I have never even heard of Chet Lam. But then once I started to listen to it, I was in love, for weeks I played it over and over. While the "feel" of the songs were about the same, each song was distinctly different from all the others. The lyrics were easy to understand and I felt the lyrics come to life in me, I could relate to most of them. Not only are his lyrics down to earth, but they touched my soul as well. Pillow Songs is great, I play it before I sleep and I feel the hectic day float further and further away as I enter Dreamland.

Refreshing~ Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
I have to say that I'm a melody person, so I always prefer nice melody over meaningful lyrics. Let's get to this album. Overall, this is an album that is refreshing. Simple, basic and straightforward. Yet, it shows the talent of Yat Fung. Great guitar skills and nicely composed song. A little of folk and country styles especially with main instrument being the guitar. The singing is not the greatest, but it brings the point of just being a direct, simple person singing all the messages.
Most of the songs have very similar styles. I personally like the track "Ice Cream Car"(track 2), "Swing"(track 4), "Me and Instant Noodle"(track 6), "Green grassland, by the creek"(track 7) and of course "the best is yet to come".Ice cream car's melody might not stand out, but the lyrics conveys small things in life but it touches many's hearts. Swing is an interesting song. If you listen carefully, there's some effects put into the song such that you can feel the sound swinging from left to right and back creating a "swing" effect. "Green grassland" is a very simple, country like song. You can almost see the green grassland with the little creek flowing in front of you when you hear this song. "Instant Noodle" song is just a light happy song. The song "The best is yet to come" is played so many times everywhere that anyone can sing part of it easily. It is a meaningful song with simple yet singing melody. It's a very soothing song especially in such a tough economy, it relates to people and is able to encourage people.

This is an album that is down to earth, not too fancy, yet, with quality. We can see the talent and sincerity of Chet in the album. It brings a different style, in fact a very refreshing style that stands out in Hong Kong's entertainment industry. If Chet can improve a little on the singing, it will be perfect. Maybe a little variety in the album is very welcomed too.
