The film follows young Chris Taylor (Charlie Sheen) who arrives in Vietnam and quickly discovers that he must do battle with not only the Viet Cong, but also the gnawing fear, physical exhaustion and intense anger growing within him, In outstanding Oscar-nominated performances, Tom Berenger and Willem Dafoe co-star as Sergeants Barnes and Elias - one hard and callous, the other tough yet compassionate.
The two officers draw a fine line between the war they wage against the enemy and the one they fight with each other, dangerously dividing the loyalty of the men. Fierce, intense and starkly realistic, Platoon is a powerful war picture like no other.
