　　In an abandoned church in the middle of downtown Los Angeles, a handful of graduate students and scientists, hastily summoned by a Catholic priest, strive to learn the secret held in a mysterious canister, guarded for hundreds of years by a forgotten religious sect, the Brotherhood of Sleep. The canister contains an evil looking liquid which seems to be coming alive, generating a strange energy from within itself. The scientists discover an old manuscript and determine through X-rays that the canister's lid can only be opened from inside and that the canister itself is seven million years old.
