The Project Gotham Racing series returns for its second go-around on the Xbox 360. Project Gotham Racing 4 is an upgrade on the Xbox 360 launch title Project Gotham Racing 3, offering more licensed cars, more tracks, and even some firsts to the series. New to this edition are motorcycles - over 30 officially licensed bikes are featured in the game, and are realistically presented, from styling on down to player animations for the riders. Also, inclement weather has been added to the game. Up to ten distinct types of dynamically changing weather are featured, from light rain to hailstorms, snowstorms, and even heavy blankets of fog. The weather affects play too; drifting becomes easier when the roads are slick, but continued rain means more puddles, which can impede the player's progress. Mastering the tracks in PGR4 requires one to account for both the weather's advantages and disadvantages. The track count has been upped from five to ten, with new additions like Shanghai, St. Petersburg, and even Macau. A robust online mode keeps the challenge fresh and exciting, even long after the player has exhausted the already numerous single-player options.
