Set against a TsimShaTsui that never sleeps, a stolen police gun triggers a suspenseful chain of events. Tracking down the missing gun before dawnm cop LO first gets his car vandalised, then his butt kicked. Suddenly he is wedged between two gangs on a brink of bloddbath, while starving off investigations by both the Anti-vice Squad and Homicidal Unit embroiled in their own turf war. His only lifeline is a maverick team of Police Tactical Unit who help him searching the gun....
All characters, all threads crisscross in one dark night. High-contrast light versus darkness shots. A natural minimalization versus a deep sense of black humour. With precise timing, Johnnie To sets the place for a visual ballet.

| This movie surprised me. I thought something was going to happen. I thought there would be a little more action. I thought the plot would be better. Instead it moved so slowly and dragged on with the cops walking around. Finally the bad guy was killed. |

I don't know what made me dislike this film, maybe I had my hopes a bit to high considering its a J.Too film. Anyhow I did not really like this film, it was very slowpaced in my point of view in a boring way, Too most often makes me just love the dialog, characters etc. but something was missing in this one. A few tasteful scenes were made but they can't raise the bar considering I thought too much was just a waste of time. Not a film I recommend by Too, go watch Exiled or something instead. |

I must admit it's quite different from other police force movies i have ever seen, but i found it so annoying that all the trouble is because of a lost gun!! Action is ok but not that good. Borrow if i were you. |

| I know alot of people here are raving bout this movie, but honestly this was so boring it dragged all the way. I really like Simon Yam, Jonnie To is way overated...but watching him and a bunch of cops walking around Hong Kong does not make an exciting story, and then to finish with an arty slow down at the end, added to my misery..Hopefully Fatal Move like SPL will be more enticing.. |

"PTU" is a terrific film about the extraordinary steps a police officer takes to cover a mistake made by a fellow officer. The movie gets the dark and moody atmospherics of a thriller just right and will keep you on the edge of your seat with its fast-paced series of white-knuckle brushes with danger. Simon Yam was born to play the intense, unpredictable cop he inhabits here. And those scenes of his PTU squad patrolling the steaming dark streets of Hong Kong will leave an indelible impression. Very, very highly recommended. |
