Jim Sonzero remakes Kiyoshi Kurosawa's Japanese horror hit Pulse (2001) into a same-titled thriller set in the West. With a script co-written by Scream director Wes Craven, this new version stars Kristen Bell as Mattie, a girl whose ex-boyfriend commits suicide, leaving behind a computer program running even if the machine is unplugged. Mattie and her best friends start seeing inexplicable images and people around them die suddenly without clues. She puts the bits and pieces together, with help of Dextor (Ian Somerhalder from Lost), and only till then she discovers a frightening and shocking truth... The viewers easily gets absorbed into the film's creepy world as computers and mobile phones have become inseparable from daily life, and the audience should have no difficulties to relate themselves to all the horrible happenings experienced by Mattie. Stunning visuals and creepy score also add to the tension.

A doorway between the human realm and the spiritual realm has been opened, and now the technology that once made humankind the ruler of the planet has become its digital Achilles heel. With every call made and every e-mail checked, life is slowly being stolen from the living and claimed for the dead. With no way of turning off the connection and no means of reasoning with a force they cannot understand, a desperate group of college students must discover a means of stopping the takeover before the entire planet is transformed into a cosmic haunting ground for wayward souls in search of a home.
