　「善德女王」是描述韓國史上三國時代女中豪傑善德女王一生的歷史故事。利用美色掌握宮中權力的美室(高賢廷飾)，一心想成為皇后，雖然摩耶皇后在她奸計下死裡逃生，還身懷六甲回到宮中，但摩耶皇后懷的雙胞胎卻成就不幸的宿命，因為王室流傳一個預言-「御出雙生 聖骨男盡」，指皇室若生出雙胞胎的話，將使王室男性斷了精氣，為了保住性命，王子將一女送出皇宮，但皇室仍被善用權謀和色誘的美室所掌權，多年後被拋棄的公主德曼(李瑤媛飾)(之後的善德女王) 回到新羅，與雙胞胎姐姐天明(朴藝珍飾)公主同心協力，對抗企圖掌權的美室。美室用各種手段企圖打敗德曼公主和天明公主，天明公主在陰謀下被美室害死，德曼公主憑著聰慧的頭腦，在武藝高強的金庾信(嚴泰雄飾)幫忙下，除掉政敵美室 ，成為第一個登上王位的女性。

人物介紹：

德曼公主/善德女王 (李瑤媛 飾) (少年：南智賢 飾)
　新羅第27代王、真平王的二女兒。所有的權力都掌控在美室手中的政治局面下，真平王和摩耶夫人之間誕生了雙胞胎姐妹。當時王室裏有著一個傳聞，王如果生了雙胞胎，聖骨(新羅時期實行骨品制，是代表身份階級的制度，聖骨是骨品中最高的身份，只有王族才可以擁有。)男人就會絕後，可想而知這對雙胞胎的出生是個大凶兆。父親真平王決定把雙胞胎中的妹妹德曼送出宮外，但是遭到了美室一派的阻撓。幾經面臨危機的德曼在傳奇人物國仙文弩的幫助下奇蹟般活了下來。德曼把真平王的侍女昭火當成了母親，在中國塔克拉瑪干沙漠的一個旅館長大。後來德曼在與美室的奪權鬥爭中把敵人的勢力一個個拉到了自己這一邊，最終成為新羅第一個女王。

美室 (高賢廷 飾) (少年：UEE金宥真 飾)
　用美色迷惑真興王、銅輪太子、真智王、真平王等人的後宮，是善德女王最大的對手。用美色把王和花郎玩弄於股掌之間，具有天生的政治敏感與能力。用美色迷惑真興王後，第一次嘗到了權力的甜頭。真興王死後美室廢除了真智王，把年幼的真平王推上了王位，因此掌控了宮中的實權。看到真平王生下雙胞胎姐妹後想親自執政，但是在國仙文努和昭火的智謀下失敗。之後計劃把丈夫世宗推上王位，夢想成為王后。

天明公主 (朴藝珍 飾) (少年：申世炅 飾)
　德曼公主的孿生姐姐，真平王的大女兒。與德曼公主一樣在不吉利的氛圍中出生，與自小受盡苦難的德曼不同，在華麗宮廷中長大的天明，成為美麗、高雅的公主。明白美室的狠毒，所以天明時時刻刻警戒自己，並養成保守的性格，但其實是個天資聰明、懂得權衡利益的女人。嫁給龍樹並生了兒子金春秋，但對把自己從危機中拯救出來的金庾信產生感情。知道德曼對庾信的愛意之後內心充滿矛盾。

金庾信 (嚴泰雄 飾) (少年：李賢宇 飾)
　新羅的名將大臣，新羅政治勢力中屬加耶派。母親萬明公主和父親金舒玄在王室的極力反對之下私奔，後來生下的兒子就是金庾信。從小練就武術，擁有領導才能並遵守原則，因此給人一種信賴感。帶領郎徒在深山裏修煉的時候救出被美室人馬所追殺的天明，隨後來到慶州，其能力得到世人的認可。後來偶遇成為郎徒的德曼，知道她的公主身份之後，庾信始終扶助和支援她，最終得到德曼的信任。

真平王 (趙敏基 飾 飾)
　新羅第26代王，德曼和天明的父親。真興王的大兒子銅輪太子的兒子，真興王死後，15歲的時候被美室推上了王位，但宮中實權其實被美室掌控。在美室一派的操縱之下失去了全部可以繼承王位的兒子，不料原以為死去的德曼突然活著回宮，他看出德曼身上具有王的資質，於是為了德曼第一次對美室展開了反擊。

毗曇 (金南佶 飾) (少年：朴智彬 飾)
　雖是美室的兒子，但幫助德曼登上王位。看到德曼更信賴金庾信而不是自己後，妒火攻心並帶頭反叛德曼。

真興王 (李順才 飾)
　新羅第24代王，發動了多次戰爭，大大地擴張了新羅的彊土。

真智王 (任豪 飾)
　真興王的次子，得知真興王過世後不是將王位傳給他，受到美室宮主的誘惑，答應封美室為皇后，竄改遺囑為王，後來受到宮中壓力，未封美室為皇后，又被美室以揭開他 ” 私自竄改先王遺囑 ” 計謀擊下王位！

摩耶夫人 (尹優善 飾)
　新羅的王妃，真平王的夫人，德曼/天明公主的母親，品性溫和善良。當被美室計謀殺害的真平王夫人身懷六甲回到宮中時，便粉碎了美室成為皇后的美夢。但因為生下了雙胞胎，中了「御出雙生 聖骨男盡」的不幸傳言，加上後來出生的兒子都中途夭折進而失去了再孕能力，自此逐漸失去政治地位，並且受到美室的控制！

昭火 (徐英熙 飾)
　真平王侍女，德曼的養母。自真平王孩童時起就侍候的宮中侍女。做每件事都馬虎粗魯的她，被視為愚鈍的人。但是，真平王生下女雙胞胎後，在真平王的御令下，置生死於度外地，將德曼逃離美室的追殺，並為養育、保護德曼做出許多犧牲！

金春秋 (劉勝浩 飾) (幼年：鄭允錫)
　新國第29代王，太宗武烈王，天明公主和金龍樹的兒子，德曼公主的外甥。以為母親的死與德曼有關，從唐朝回宮的他對德曼深懷敵意，不斷藉機折磨德曼和庾信郎。儘管如此，仍可在他的行事作風中觀察到很強的統帥能力。並且在德曼成為王的過程中起了決定性作用，成為女王的德曼為了實現一三國的夢想，非常器重金庾信和金春秋，是皇室的中堅力量。

very enjoyable Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
Never mind about the minor details and just sit back and enjoy this very entertaining drama. There are however a few epistles that were a little boring and I didn't like it when the goodies were always on the losing ends. Pee Tang kept you guessing whether he is a good or bad guy. Not sure if I like the ending though.

This is the best so far of all the Korean series I have watched here in the Philippines...Kim Nam Gil captured the hearts of Filipino viewers. The love of Bidam to Queen Seon Duk is very touchy...I can't forget the final episode because it made the viewers cry...Bidam being a great swordman and his good looks...oh my God, Bidam we love you so much...I mean Kim Nam Gil...

 Awesome Epic!!! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I must say that I'm certainly envious of the Koreans because they could produce an epic TV show such as this. I should first mention the score because I think one of the most crucial elements in movie making is the music's ability to effectively render the film's atmosphere and the character's emotions in the absence of dialogue and Queen Seon Deok (QSD) does not fail on this. The score is indeed haunting and beautiful.

Like an epic movie, QSD's sets are extravagant and grandiose, the sceneries are breath-taking, the Asian-style sword fights are fast-paced, and the colorful period costumes are a visual feast in the eyes. The first couple of episodes depict QSD's childhood and how Deokman (that's QSD's childhood name) grew up to be intelligent, brave, and street-smart.

I must mention that I really love the chemistry between Lee Yo-Won (Deokman) and Uhm Tae Woong (Yushin). Every time they banter, my television screen lightens up. :)

All in all, an awesome epic drama everyone should watch!

This is a really great drama...I have not finished watching it yet though, i'm on episode 30...and it keeps getting better and better. I've been up for the past few days, watching this drama non stop!!!!! When i' should be sleeping, i'm watching this series. I' even try and slip a few episodes while i'm at work...i'm telling you i keep thinking about it non stop until I finish it. lol I do feel this is better than Yisan...and a lot of the other dramas I've seen. I just am truely enjoying this series.
