July 14, 2006 "BEAUTIFUL"There's only one word appropriate for this tv drama: "BEAUTIFUL". This is tvdrama made at its best! Everything is just beautiful! It's not your usual "teenybopper" senseless romantic comedy idol drama that is Taiwan known for. The cinematography is breathtaking! It's main strong point is really THE STORY. A beautiful, romantic innocent love story shot in the most beautiful, scenic and "unpolluted" romantic place like "Xishuangbanna", Yunnan. Not to be ignored are the few shots of Greatwall of China in Beijing & the Tokyo Tower in Japan.Though the casts are the pop idols in Taiwan, China & Singapore, they have traded their ever glamorous appearances from their previous idol dramas to a more "dress down" stars, to make an even more realistic tone. I just love the scene where Binfei(Ken Chu) suddenly kisses a stranger local girl Yubohan (Lee Bingbing), for which he mistook as his ex-girlfriend, who left him in Beijing. Very romantic scene, with superb musical scoring and a very infectious opening & closing theme songs that can melt your hearts & fall in love!No wonder this drama is very popular in Japan! Now we just have to wait for Taiwan & mainland China's verdict. I never cried for a tvdrama/movie before ...not since Nicholas Sparks' "A Walk To Remember"! Definitely worth it! July 5, 2006 Fascinating!I got intrigued by 2 things with this book:One is its title "Darling, Let's Cook Together!" The title seem to live up to the reputation of Ken Chu as AN IDOL, and a reputation of being a "ladies man" in showbusiness. Two: this is a COOKBOOK. Very unexpectedly to be written by a member of a boyband. We cant help sometimes stereotyping matinee idols from just being "prettyface", BUT... this is quite surprising & impressive! The book has a very unique concept, and you wont find yourself raising an eyebrow why this guy has written a cookbook, eventhough he isnt a chef. But the book doesnt "boast" of Ken Chu's talent in cooking or his being an idol. You'll realize a very DOWN-TO EARTH individual in this book. It tells more on how cooking and food in general affects the everyday of his life. How food/cooking bridges the gap between his family & loved ones! This is superb! VERY UNEXPECTED IN A GOOD WAY. This was written with honesty and comprehensive way. This would make readers realize, celebrities are human beings, too! They can live a much ordinary life than ours. I'm not surprise that this book was praised by critics and..by CNN'S Loraaine Hahn. I bet writing an autobiography wouldnt be hard for Ken Chu! Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Dragon Squad (Hong Kong Version)
July 5, 2006 "Hollywood-wannabe"I was actually excited to see this movie in theaters, which I failed to do so. With all the "casting coup", and lavish promotions,it's so hard not to be tempted to watch this movie. But... one word is enough to describe this movie after i watch it...DISAPPOINTING!!! Trying so hard to be "hollwood-like", but it failed. Action scenes are well executed, but kinda bad acting for some of the actors! Sammo Hung & Shawn Yue delivers...but the rest...I cant really say. I've been expecting much from Vanness Wu's performance, but failed to deliver. He looks too "feminine" to be an action star. I think he should concentrate more on singing or dancin & performing on stage, coz he definitely kicks *** than acting! Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

November 29, 2005 Very Promising...but lacks characterNo doubt about it, Wu can sing, and he's the most energetic among F4, performance-wise, but this album is a typical R & B/hiphop, with a bit commercialize taste, and the song lyrics arent that impressive. "Looking for Juliet" though, is a powerful song, complimenting Vanness' personality, but this is the only song that stands out from the others. The album lacks character & appeal. If you're an enthusiast for R&b/hiphop music, you would rather grab David Tao or Jay Chou's album ,rather than this. But, it's his first album, which makes it rather forgiving for Vaness. He is promising when it comes to music in F4 (along with Ken Chu), but we are looking forward to a more creative, versatile and distinct album in the near future. keep it up! November 25, 2005 For Jerry fanatics onlyBetter than expected, his singing has improved, but still needs a lot of work, though, especially when singing live. His songs are usual, some a bit "mushy & cheesy", but this album is not bad as a start. If you're a Jerry fan or F4 fanatic, surely this album is for you. You'll surely be swept off your feet, coz he's really gorgeous, and no one can contest that. But if you're a music geek, oh well, this isnt for you, coz you'll be disappointed. November 25, 2005 Surprisingly GoodOh well, this is a surprisingly good album.Every songs has its own character, and all are good, actually. But it's no surprise that this album is great, considering the line-up of composers & producers who were involved in making this album e.g. wu bai, mayday,Alan Ke,etc. to name a few, and surprisingly Ken Chu also penned 2 songs in this maiden album. "Hei Bai/Black & White" which is one of his compositions is a great song with good instrumental arrangements, nostalgic lyrics, making it my personal favorite among the songs in this album. The song "What about Me", has the classic taste in it, and this seem to be a song that really suit his voice. The 4th track "Good Person", is a bit "pop-ish", however, this showcased Ken's singing prowess. Not to forget mayday's "La la la", very upbeat & carefree which complemented Ken Chu's personality. Ke You Lun's "Never Stop",wu Bai's" "Silly Lover" & Ken Chu/Vivian Hsu's "Reborn" are melancholic rock songs that will surely make you remember all your heartaches.Very effective rendition.Another song that is worth mentioning is Tanya Chua's "Understanding",which gave this album a touch of "class". This album only showed that Ken is very credible in doing both lovesongs & rocksongs. A very promising artist. Can't wait for the next album. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
My Intuition (CD+VCD) (2nd Version)
November 8, 2005 Rainie...The Next Taiwan Idol!Though she was very young then, Rainie Yang was well-remembered by many as the cute innocent young girl, who fell in love with F4's lady charmer Ken Chu, in the phenomenal asian hit TV series "Meteor Garden". She played the role very convincingly, hence people always remembered her as such, landing her in the leading roles in various TV series in Taiwan after the Meteor fever. But little did we know that the "Xiao You" of Meteor Garden can sing! Yes, Rainie surprised everybody with her debut album "Ai Mei". Her voice is sweet, soft & very angelic, very appropriate for her looks. Though her songs are "TOO CUTE" & "VERY TEENY-BOPPER", but still it made such a huge attention in Taiwan. But it's not bad for a first album, considering all popular music icons started likewise with the same music style & songs (ever heard of Britney Spears & Cristina Aguilera?).This album has also proven that Rainie Yang is one artist that shouldnt be ignored, she has the'IDOL" in the making, following the footsteps of her Meteor Garden co-stars e.g. F4, Barbie Hsu, she would probably share the same attention with those big stars if given the chance of a reunion! Way to go Rainie! I just hope that you could find your own music style that will really define your talent as a singer! Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This)
