Universal DSD - Priscilla Chan
Universal DSD - Priscilla Chan DVD Region All
(7)Our Price: US$16.99Usually ships within 7 - 14 daysDecember 27, 2002 Now, give me SACD!Agree with the comment by P.C.M. Wong. The sonics of this DSD version is the best from Polygram/Universal for now. Even better than the Denon MasterSonic version. The music videos on the DVD are for those who grew up in Hong Kong in the 80's and have refused to grow up! :-) While the pricing of this CD/DVD pack is okay, just give me the SACD version so that I don't need to buy the same song for the Nth time... Hahaha. Warner has released several SACDs, so Univesal should hurry up. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Vivian's Dream Comes True Concert (Concert Version)
December 24, 2002 Great DTS soundThis is one of the best sounding concert DVD from Hong Kong, especially the DTS version. Fairly aggressive use of surrounds for crowd noise and some music accompaniment, but Vivian's voice is very clear and solid from the front speakers. Bass is very "live concert" like in the DTS version, weaker in the DD.
Video is pretty standard fare from Hong Kong. Camera use is pretty traditional, which is great, as it is not distracting, and stays on Vivian most of the time, with no jumpy cuts like other DVDs.
Performance is solid, except for a few missed high notes, and when Vivian was crying. Still, I'm surprised at how well she was. Very moving in the 2nd half; reminds me of Priscilla Chan's concert in 1989 before she left for Syracuse. Both are "historical" performance. Highly recommended.Did you find this review helpful? 24K 2 in 1 - Michael Kwan
June 25, 2002 Please understand...People should know that this series is the same as the Denon Mastersonic "88" released about 4-5 years ago. The liner, notes, and everything is the same. The only difference is that the discs are 24K gold, instead of aluminum, and the 2-disc jewel case is put in a color box, seen here. The original "88" series is one of my favorite product of Polygram, as the sonic improvement is tremendous, especially for older songs like Michael Kwan. Did you find this review helpful?
