Janne Da Arc vocalist yasu is keeping his slate more than full with activities for his solo project band Acid Black Cherry. Just three months after releasing the album Black List, Acid Black Cherry is already coming out with another full-length release, this time the cover album Release. yasu adds his distinct cherry rock flavor to a wide selection of classic numbers including Nakamori Akina's Slow Motion (Track 2), Suzuki Toru's Shinin' On - Kimi ga Kanashii (Track 3), Ikeda Satoshi's Venus Monochrome (Track 5), and even Kubota Saki's Ihoujin (Track 6).
This edition comes with a DVD containing music video and behind-the-scenes clips.

Yasu from Janne Da Arc

Just to offer a bit of history, Acid Black Cherry is a solo project band created by Yasunori Hayashi, the vocalist from Janne Da Arc. He combines his project with members from the popular J-Rock bands SHUSE, LUNA SEA, PENICILLIN, and Aucifer. In May of 2007, Yasu and his band had a secret tour in Japan, with a live show in Shinjuku and worldwide release show on the internet. SPELL MAGIC is their first single and debuted at Oricon Chart Rank 4! I highly recommend the song スローモーション (Slow Motion) Track #2 on this album. It is fast paced with metal rock guitar in the background, and very high vocals. Excellent song! The first time I listened to it, I stopped everything I did and just listened. I can't stop listening to this song!! It's completely addictive, like chocolate liquor on coffee ice cream. His singing is very passionate yet strong, melodic, and fuses with the heavy guitar riffs in the background. I also recommend BEAUTIFUL NAME Track #10. This has a J-Pop feel, but a very sweet song about every girl having a beautiful name. All in all, this album is phenomenal in terms of Japan's genre of Metal genius. Complete with powered guitar skills, high vocals, avex label, and astounding music melodies, it is my voted best Rock album of the 2007-08 year! |

Beautiful Metal Rock
| When I first heard Acid Black Cherry, I was surprised by his high vocals and a voice true to actual rock, NOT the highly fashion-ized pop rock or alternative rock, or punk rock. His singing is like The Scorpions and X-Japan, with a very high-reaching voice. The songs are in the genre of Metal Rock and reminds me a lot of X-Japan. Beautiful rock music! |
