I live in Korea, and it plays American DVDs with no problem, but they sent the wrong voltage adaptor (another customer reported the same problem). The adaptor they sent will not work in Korea, but luckily I had the right adaptor from my previous DVD player. They upgraded the delivery to Express (for free) and I got it in just a couple of days, so no complaints there. Just make sure you have the right voltage adaptor for your country.
