１９７０年代初頭のニューヨーク。少年トム（アントン・イェルチン）は、夫に先立たれ、悲しみから抜け出せずにいる母親（ティア・レオーニ）と共に静かに暮らしていた。トムの楽しみは、彼が通う学校の用務員：パパス（ロビン・ウィリアムズ）と共に肉屋で配達のバイトをすること。そして二人の夢は、ショーウィンドウに飾られている緑の自転車に乗ることだ。病気のために、年上ながら心が子供のままのパパスとナイーヴなトムは、いつしかとても気が合う親友同士になっていた。しかし、初恋を通じてトムが、少しずつ大人の階段を昇りはじめると、大人になれないパパスとの間に少しずつひびが入りはじめる。そんな時、二人が憧れていた緑の自転車が盗まれてしまい・・・・。 日本版予告編
