Although perhaps more famous for his Huangmei Operas like 1959's The Kingdom And The Beauty and 1960's The Magnificent Concubine, director Li Han Chiang helmed his fare share of dramas and comedies, and Scandal, his 1974 film with the Shaw Brothers studio, is an irreverent combination of both genres! Noted comedic actor Michael Hui Koon Man, star of Chicken And Duck Talk, Three Of A Kind, and The Warlord, takes on the lead role in Scandal as Zhen Ming, a roguish scamp who pals around with his best friend Chia Liang (Wang Sheng) getting into all sorts of misadventures along the way. Political corruption runs rampant in Wan Ping County in the Hopei Province, and when these two stragglers end up wandering into town one fateful day, all hell breaks loose as the men conspire their way to the top of the food chain!

Thanks to some heavy duty double dealing, these two nobodys end up becoming definite somebodys as they find themselves in the roles of respected officials! Thanks to their shenanigans, Zheng Ming becomes the governor of Wan Ping County while his second in command Chia Liang ends up taking on the position of magistrate. But will these two punks turn the county around and make it a decent place to live or are they far worse than the people they replaced? Featuring appearances by Tanny Tien Ni (from Golden Lotus, Hex, and Corpse Mania), and Zeng Miu (from The Adventures of Emperor Chien Lung and Brotherhood), Goo Fung (from Kung Fu Instructors and The Brothers), Scandal is one rousing comedy that's sure to tickle the funny bones of Michael Hui fans!

　　由名導演李翰祥所編導的《醜聞》，有冷面笑匠許冠文、金馬獎最佳男配角井淼及恬妮、谷峰等巨星坐鎮，陣容一時無倆。故事背景在河北省某貪污成風的小縣內，流浪漢甄明（許冠文）與賈亮（王琛）因掌握一眾縣官的貪污或醜聞證據，得以順水推舟假扮縣長，把各官員玩弄於股掌之中，但最終筆鋒一轉，結局出人意表。全片帶出人生如戲的黑色幽默外，也狠狠地鞭撻為官者殘民以自肥的無恥行為，可見編導者的匠心獨運。

　　Director Li Han-hsiang teams up again with the irreverent comedic talents of Michael Hui Kwun-man in this tongue-in-cheek drama. Corruption is strife in Wan Ping County in Hopei Province. Two good-for-nothing loafers Chen Ming (Michael Hui Kwun-man) and Chia Liang (Wang Sheng) arrive and turn the officials on their head. After a bout of blackmailing, they end up in positions of power themselves. It's all done with the best intentions, or so they believe.
