When I found out Ayumi Hamasaki was releasing a new album instead of a mini-album, I was really excited. I knew it would be good. This is my favorite album of the year. All the new tracks are really good as well as the single tracks. The poster is awesome and so are the music videos. This is definitely and improvement from (miss)understood and it's a must buy. |

I'm really liking Secret. You can truly see and hear how Ayu has matured. She's definitely much more than just a cute pop singer in this album. I love her deeper voice and the emotion she infuses into each song. The instrumentals and melodies of these songs are quite amazing as well...there's all kinds of new sounds and stuff being employed here. Secret is definitely my favourite J-POP album of the year. |

I must admit that after listening to her singles released in 2006, I was afraid that this album would not be up to the standard of her previous albums - but I was in for a pleasant surprise. 'Secret' is an extremely well constructed album, where the album tracks surpass the single tracks. It is carefully balanced between ballads and rock tracks, which make it a perfect combination. Also the artwork was simply stunning. In the end I can say without any hesitation, that 'Secret' is one of her best albums to date. Personally I believe this album is a must buy for any Ayu fan and J-Pop fan alike. I really cannot find any flaw within this album since it's a well rounded album which will please any fans of Ayu. |

i've been an avid fan of ayu for years now... i've been constantly buying her CDS and singles... i've been worshipping her... ...as a true fan, i am deeply unhappy with her new album (ouch, that hurts a lot but there, i've said it) Secret is not a very good album I must say. I thought MY STORY was bad...but this is nothing better compared to it Trust me... (miss)understood was okie...that was better than MY Story but Secret shows no better I love Ayu so much it hurts me so to type this out Haizz, anyway I really do like 1LOve, JEWEL, momentum...& well, that;s about it. Some of the songs seem as though they were used again to remix the thing into a new song (which is such a lazy move!) i find that the album was a half past for kind of album, it was a lazy, no effort-put-in kind of album! I'm like wondering is this like a trend? I mean, she did tremendously well on I am... Then RAINBOW was just okie (didn't shine as much as I am...) Memorial add was briliant for a mini album.. Then MY Story was bad (miss)understood came next & it was much much better... & now this, Secret...man, it's such a dissapointment with the big 'D'! neway if it reali is a trend, lets expect a better album from ayu the next time =) I am still an ayu fan (a HUGE one) & i'll support her all the way... ...but what about those who decide to draw the line here & cut ayu off from their list right away? |

I am no longer a fan of Ayu. I have all her albums and some singles and remix albums. Since My Story her songs have been mostly horrible and this is no diffrent. Her new album is just boring and not even one song is good. I´m sorry but I will not buy anything new from her in the future. I still listen to her other cds but this one is beyond bad. |

I know you probably read this and thought I was crazy but, honestly. I've heard and or owned EVERY Ayumi album and I've seen a downward spiral with her music. Sadly this was not an improvement if anything it made matters worse. I wrote about SURREAL a few years back and how much I loved it under the guise of Tetsuya Nakajima and I called her the Madonna of Japan because of her musically diverse nature. Honestly after 'I AM' her full-albums sounded like any and everything I've heard in America.....and that's a terrible,TERRIBLE thing! It's a shame too because I hoped that 'Missunderstood' was the end of her slump. The only good thing about this album was the first track, and the album cover. Sincerely, Andrew Roberts |

wow ayumi . once again you pulled an amazing album!! to be honest..i'm not that into jpop..but it's great artists like ayumi that keeps me into it!! i dun care wht others have to say about this..but to me..it's one AMAZING album this cd is filled with all sorts of genre...as most notice..it is mostly rock-based (probably due to the fact that rock/punk music types are the latest trend)..but each song is very unique..original..and wonderful!!! i love all the tracks on this cd track 1 - not yet - love the intro..ayumi brings a really soft & ballad voice..i thought it would be a slow song..but the tempo increases near the chorus..to a combo of techno/trance and rock..a wonderful start to the album..too bad this song is too short..wished it was longer!! track 2 - until that DAY - the beginning carries on a bit from track 1..so a nice flow..but this song is highly based on rock..nice vocal arrangements..love the arrangement of music..i always find music arrangements for ayu's songs to be one of the best..everything blend so well together..i like the chorus too..very fast and upbeat track 3 - Startin' - i previously mentioned this song in her single before..but it's a wonderful fast paced song..it has a combo of rock & techno too..but mostly on the rock side..again nice musical arrangements with a upbeat chorus track 4 - 1 LOVE - starts with a elecrical guitar..u can tell it's another rock song..this found wasn't as that much of a spark as her other ones for me..but it still carries out a nice melody..her voice is strong in this one..she's able to carry out very well..not a lot of singers are able to sing rock songs..so i'm impressed w/ayu track 5 - It was - ayu starts to slow down..this is more of a medium rock paced song...slow intro..and once again an upbeat chorus..and nice vocals too track 6 - nice interlude..love the piano..it gives a very fantasy & mysterious feeling track 7 - jEWEL - ayu finally slows it down w/a slow ballad..wonderful piano intro..actually..the song mostly consists of that piano..you can really hear ayu's vocals in here..nice and strong..it's mostly only her voice too..so great of her for not using background vocals...she also puts a lot of vibrations at the end of the line she sings..i'm glad she's taking the effort to bring out her voice..but i find her vibrations a bit weak..she could take some improvement on that..but it's a nice try..and stil nice to listen to..i like the PV for this song too..can't believe production cost almost $1 million US!! track 8 - momentum - a track written by ayumi..it's another medium paced ballad..but it does give a slow intro..and another upbeat chorus..i like this song the best..very attractive..kept repeating cuase it's stuck in my head!...once again..u can hear ayumi's vocals..not a lot of vibrations in this song..so she knows how to control her voice..well done track 9 - another wonderul interlude..this time it slows down and builds up w/the guitars and drums..a nice flow..b/c she finishes off with slow songs..and then comes back up on her fast beats track 10-12 - previously mentioned on her startin' single and her blue bird single..all 3 tracks are wonderful..each track is different and it gives a different feeling too..Born to be - a happy confident feeling..Beautiful Fighters - a bit cutsy and jolly feelings..BLUE BIRD - wonderful upbeat dancing summer hit track 13 - kiss o kill - once again..slow intro with a rock build up...nice vocals..very clear..this song doesn't spark me too much..but it's still a nice song to listen to..really love the music arrangments track 14 - SECRET - ayu ends off with a slow ballad...wonderful song..this one has more instrucmental music than jEWEL..but u can still hear her vocals..her voice here gives a sad feeling..i don't know japanese..so not sure the meaning to this song..but it still gives me a nice feeling overall..wonderful album...i'm starting to like ayumi even more now..great voice..good songs w/wonderful musical arranagments..i like how ayumi is able to carry out today's trend really well..not only she's great w/style..but also great with music keep it up ayu!!! |

Very few people can adore all the tracks on this album by the same amount. That is simply because Secret is filled with tons of styles. Ayumi Hamasaki is known for that and in this #1 hit-album, Ayu has alot of rock songs, with the occasional pop, retro, ballad and various other songs. 'JEWEL' and 'Secret' (and maybe 'momentum') are the only ballads, while '1 LOVE', 'until that Day...' and 'kiss o' kill' are true rocksongs. In short. You will surely like Ayumi Hamasaki's new album, no matter what your taste in music is. Whatever the Queen of Jpop brings us, we'll like. And that is why Secret is going to be topping all the charts right away. One album you absolutely CANNOT miss! |
