Jpop Angel
| Hitomi is great. Similar to Keiko (globe) she has this extremely catchy voice, that flows really well with the music. Her songs are so catchy, that you can't wait to sing along with her (once you know the lyrics). It's a best album of hitomi, and my first hitomi album as well. It's a great buy itself, a two disk compilation, which no song I dislike. Disk 2 features some of her older songs, from TK's work. |

Suitable for Framing! (j/k)
| okay, this cd is uber-ly wonderful and lover-ly! I really like how she released some of her older songs on the second disc (you know, the ones that have ended printing) and it makes me HAPPY!!! hahaha, I listened to Flow on repeat about twenty times when I first heard it. and when I saw it in concert, I was very happy. She has a very interesting sound and it's pretty and very... original... lot's of good-ness!! |

PuMPIN Hitomi
|
As always, nothing less from Hitomi. The genre is Rock; she sounds like JAURIM from Kpop. Her songs are very well-written, full of pump, melody and long-lasting memories. If you don't like rock, I don't recommend this item for you. There are about 5 truly fantastic songs in the album, the rest are okay. ALso includes a 2nd, bonus CD including all her 7 SELFPORTRAIT editions + a live track. |

Where are the new songs?
| As a fans of hitomi, you really won't bother getting this album since you should already have most of the songs on this album. There is only 1 new song on it... Not even the 3 new songs from the last single are on it!!! Just have to wait for her "New Album" i guess. I also don't really like the selections of the songs... they are mainly from her last album "huma-rythm" and they are actually not the very best of her. So, Just go get her older album and I dont think you will be disappointed. |

The Re-Invented HITOMI
| Hitomi, being one of my early J-Pop favourites, has changed her style of music since she left her ex-producer, Tetsuya Komuro. She has become more rock then ever. Even though I may prefer her previous style to a certain extend, her new taste of music has continued to amaze us. FLOW is a very good example of soft rock ballad that not many female Japanese artists could perform. Not forgetting to mention Hitomi does have this unique voice that gives a rather rock and wild mood. She has also become one of the very few Japanese singers who managed to re-invent themselves and came back with success. Hitomi was virtually on the edge of disappearing at one point as her sales of singles and albums were going down dramatically. Surprisingly, she came back in May 2000, after a 9-month break, with the totally different hit song LOVE2000 and since then, she has never been more successful. It was probably the second peak in her career. One point to note is that, Hitomi, although never perform very well on the single charts, does have three NO.1 albums (Huma-Rhythm, h, and By Myself), three NO.2 albums (Love Life, Themal Plastic and De Ja Vue) and a NO.3 Album (Go To The Top ?her Debut album) under her belt. Out of all her albums, personally, I think THERMAL PLASTIC is the best of all, even though it was the worst selling of all ?only 326,940 copies sold. Her best selling album to-date is her 2nd album, BY MYSELF, which sold more 803,000 copies. As for best selling single, it is actually one of her very early hits, CANDY GIRL, with about 400,000 copies sold. LOVE 2000 is slightly behind CANDY girl in terms of sales but it has a much higher chart position at NO.5 as compared to CANDY GIRLs NO.15. What made LOVE2000 stand out among the singles was that it had an amazingly strong staying power on the chart for a single - a total of 26 weeks!!! Most Hitomis singles disappeared from the chart after 8 weeks. Speaking of her second peak, she is actually about to release her second best selection album soon, SELF POTRAIT. Noo doubt it would be a NO.1 album like her first one. The songs that include in this album are singles taken from her THERMAL PLASTIC to her 2002 NO.1 album, HUMA-RHYTHM. If I were to rank the Top 5 favorites from her SELF-POTRAIT album, it would be like this ?KIMI NO TONARI - KIMI NI KISS MO ?MARIA ?LOVE2000 ?THERE IS The rest would include I AM ?INNOCENCE ?IS IT YOU. Although most people would pick SAMURAI DRIVE as one of best Hitomis singles (as proven on the chart as well as it hit NO.3), I never really like this song somehow. |
