１９３９年９月、ナチスドイツがポーランドに侵攻した日、ピアニストであるウワディスワフ・シュピルマンはラジオ局での演奏中に爆撃にあう。逃げ出した彼が自宅に戻ると、家族は英仏の対独宣戦を告げるラジオニュースに聞き入っていた。彼らの希望とは裏腹に街はみるみる間にドイツ軍に占拠され、様々な統制が引かれるようになる。ユダヤ人に対してゲットーへの強制移住、収容所への移送という過酷な仕打ちが行われ、多くの命が奪われるなかウワディスワフは奇跡的に収容所行きを免れる。やがてゲットーを脱出し、隠れ家を転々としながら瓦礫の山と化した街で必死に生き延びる彼だったが、ある晩とうとうドイツ人将校に見つかってしまう・・・。

This is one of the best movies of the year. No wonder it has won 3 Academmy Awards! The movie is based on true events, the acting, the cinematography and of course the music of Chopin are absolutely gorgous. Highly recommended! |
