　　台灣年青軍官許文強（張國榮飾）被日軍追殺墮海，飄浮到外灘岸上，幸得丁力（劉德華飾）相救。二人後來合力打天下，在上海闖出名堂。上海大亨馮敬堯利用二人剷除其他阻礙他的勢力，二人不虞有詐。馮敬堯育有一女馮程程（寧靜飾），相處下跟許文強互生情愫，丁力雖深愛程程，卻因朋友道義而將愛隱藏心底。強終發現當日在船上還伏擊殺害其同僚的幕後黑手乃馮敬堯，強抓起開信刀狂刺堯，程程不堪打擊成瘋婦，力痛心不己，決找強算賬……

　　The Taiwan military officer, Hsu falls into the enemy’s ambush, and floats to the Shanghai shore where he is saved by Ting Lik. Lik teams up with Kueng to try to make a fortune and soon they become famous in Shanghai. The Shanghai tycoon Fung try to eliminate other opponents with the help of Hsu and Lik. Later, Hsu discovers Fung is the mastermind of the ambush that killed all his fellow officials…

grand indeed! Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
This is a great film and should be everyones collection! I bought this a long time ago on vhs tape and then again on dvd. This blu ray has an excellent picture that is better than the dvd but it looks like its in the wrong aspect ratio and picture information is lost on all 4 sides. The sound is truly awful! The music and bass have been pumped up to stupid levels through all channels meaning the dialogue is buried. As i dont speak chinese and need the english subtitles i got by, but it could be really annoying for those of you lucky enough to speak the language. Also because of the constant assault of the music the heart and soul of the movie was lost. If you dont have a 7.1 surround set up like i do and are watching using sound via a tv it might not be so bad.

The story was interesting and fans should not get confused with the original Grand Shanghai (with Patrick Tse and Liza Wang) but I'd expected it to have a better ending. Leslie outshines everyone, including Andy Lau.What a pity Leslie didn't sing the theme song. Andy should have taken a few singing lessons before doing this song. I love this show only because of Leslie. Miss you much!

This is the first film i have seen with Leslie Chung. And what makes it more exciting is he is with Andy Lau. Love the film althougth ending is sad. Truly one of the best i have ever seen.

The film seemed grainy but a good, old school style, romantic gangster flick, especially when the leading men are as handsome. Some confusing use of flashbacks but it all comes together. A quick, entertaining show that offers just enough action at a good pace.

I liked this movie! Leslie and Andy act really great! It was surprised ending, and exciting! Whole story was enjoyable and highly recommanded!
