They deliver it again
| Once again, Gong Li and Director Zhang make it happen and it is great to see Gong Li sing and dance. The story was told through the eyes of this poor village boy who came to Shanghai early last centry to look for a better life. He joined the gang through his uncle's connection with the Shanghai triad. He hated Gong Li's character in the beginning but later became friends in a short period of time. The script is great but it has a sad ending. I am really moved by what happened on the Island at the end of this film. This movie was relased in the US under a different name. |
