只有20來歲的年青人史提夫格拉斯（凱頓基斯登遜飾演），九五年開始於行內具領導地位的時事政論雜誌《The New Republic》任職，他的文章簡單易明，喜配以趣聞軼事吸引讀者閱讀，經常引用大家信以為真的特別人物及概念，描寫精彩細緻，短短時日他的作品已廣受好評，他也成為行內炙手可熱的記者，吸引到不少著名刊物如《Rolling Stone》等的垂青，請他撰寫文章。
與此同時，格拉斯的恩師米高奇利（漢克艾沙亞飾演）因在自己的專欄中不斷撰寫文章批評當時的美國總統克林頓而備受壓力，最終被雜誌主席解雇，取而代之的是不受同事歡迎的卓克連（彼得沙士加加特飾演）。
格拉斯的事業一帆風順，直至98年5月他發表了一篇關於一個15歲駭客勒索軟體公司的報道，網站記者阿當班納格（史提夫沙恩飾演）經深入查證後發現報道都是虛構，而卓克連也開始調查格拉斯過去寫過的文章，原來格拉斯為《The New Republic》撰寫的41篇文章中，竟然有27是杜撰捏造，卓克連只有解雇格拉斯，才能保住雜誌建立了90年的聲譽。
Hayden Christensen stars as Stephen Glass, a staff writer for the respected current events and policy magazine The New Republic and a freelance feature writer for Rolling Stone Magazine, Harper's Bazaar and George. By the mid-90s, Glass' articles had turned him into one of the most sought-after young journalists in Washington D.C., but a bizarre chain of events suddenly stopped his career in its tracks.

Good movie, but bad DVD format!!

Even on regular 4:3 tv, the movie's aspect ratio looks wrong... The image is a bit out of proportions, and the characters look as if being stretched by their heads and feet. However the movie is a good watch!! It's really up to you to decide whether this version is the one for you, but you might wanna look elsewhere instead if the DVD format is important to you. |
