EXODUS (Japan Version)
September 21, 2006 Maybe next time....This is Utada's break-through album into the US market so I've to buy it as support. But honestly, it's really not my style. The thing I hate (yes, hate) the most is music arrangement..I think her record label is trying to emphasize her "Japanese" background and included some oriental-sounding noise in the background of her tracks such as "You make me want to be a man" and "hotel lobby"...but Udata's lyrics in these tracks are quite sexual and the two makes a horrible combination. I also don't know what's with her lyrics. It's too...hmm..not Hikki. Is she writing these because she's trying to sell in the US, or has Hikki always faking sweet all along? With her talent, she neither of that is neccessary. The songs worth listening are "Exodus 04", and maybe "Kremlin Dusk", if you are into something crazy. Did you find this review helpful? September 21, 2006 By far the worseI'm a hardcore Hikki fan and have been following her carrer since the beginning. But this is by far the worse song (not sure if you can call it a song)I've heard from her, by far. It's so bad that I can't even sit though the whole thing. Maybe this is a new style of music and in 5-10 year, every song will be sounding like that. I dread this day if it ever comes. I only bought this album to support Hikki and I deeply regret it. Diamond Wave (Limited Edition B)(Japan Version)
September 21, 2006 Always something to like aboutThis album is recommended to the people who like ANY of Mai's songs. Her albums are always like that. Each of them feature a huge variety of tracks: the cute and upbeat “State of Mind” and “Diamond Wave”, the powerful "Growing of my Heart" and “Best of Hero”, the Japanese-style R&B like “Juliet” and “今 君とここに”, the girlish ones that emphasize Mai’s sweet voice like “ voice of the safest place” and “会いたくて”, and the mediocre ones like “cherish the day” and “ready for love”. It makes sure that any listener will actually find something to like about her CD. This is what’s good about getting other professionals writing your music. They always know what the listeners what. But this is not Mai’s best album. It doesn’t feature that many catchy songs. So, if you’re new to Mai’s music, I suggest you try out her more powerful albums like “Perfect Crime” or even “If I Believe” too see if you like it first. “Diamond Wave” is for those who already have some liking to Mai’s music.
Recommended tracks: “Growing of my Heart”

September 19, 2006 I'll give it an other try...I can't really say that this album is bad. But it's difinitely not Utada. It's not good enough to be from her. I didn't like any her singles in here. "Passion" being the worse. Not really sure if I can really call that a song. It sounds more like a combination of scatterred notes without any distinctive melody. Maybe this is new style of music. But I don't like it. I've been following her career since "Automatic" and find that her music has changed (or deterioated, your choice) a great deal since "Deep River"... "Colors" being an exception. But tracks like "Be my last", "Passion", "Dareka no Negai ga Kanau Koro ", all her songs from "Exodus" (with the exception of "Exodus 04'" and "Kremlin Dusk") are just torture to the ears. I'm not looking forward to her new single "Boku wa Kuma". It'll probably be just like "Wings"..But she has written many good music in the past and I think I'll give her another chance. But if it's as bad as I think, it'll be the last thing I buy from her. There's a limit to being faithful.... Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This)
