2009年4月からテレビ東京系列にて放送された、迫力のロボット・アクション。永井豪の元祖スーパーロボット・コミック「マジンガーZ」をベースに、祖父からスーパーロボットを託された高校生と、世界征服を狙うDr.ヘルの壮絶な争いを描いていく。監督・脚本を務めるのは、「ジャイアントロボ THE ANIMATION」の今川泰宏。主人公の声を赤羽根健治が担当するなど、スタッフ＆キャストも強力な布陣になっている。
このBlu-ray BOXは、on television版と配信版の本編映像を同時収録している他、豪華特典を収録したコンプリート仕様となっている。

Dr.ヘルが、彼の野望をはばむ光子力研究所への総攻撃を開始した。迎え撃つマジンガー軍団だが、甲児のマジンガーZはいまだに出撃不能状態にあった。さやかたちが懸命の攻防に励むも、あえなくピンチに陥る。そのとき、ついにマジンガーZが出撃。あしゅら男爵やブロッケン伯爵らが率いる飛行要塞グールと海底要塞ブード、そしてバードス島が浮上して…。
