December 13, 2008 Nice Collection to Keep Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
Let's face it - there are just too many memorable TV themes from the 70s and 80s and to pack them in a 3-CD set is just impossible. The producers have done a good job of keeping those hits from superstars as well as lesser known tracks (not released on any studio album, such as Anita Mui's).

My personal favorites are Michael Kwan's and some of Alan's.

Sadly, the 90s were not as hit-prolific as those found in this compilation set.

Good to keep or as a gift set for an aunty/uncle.

February 6, 2008 Best Hacken selection Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
I actually don't possess the normal version but the version with the cute bag. Coming just barely 4 years after his last greatest hits selection "Tailor-Made", I was quite skeptical if this 4-disc collection would be merely a rehash of the 2003 collection. To my pleasant surprise, this collection had more to offer.
In recent years, Hacken's vocal prowess had brought him to new heights, with beautifully crafted songs such as "Farewell, Concert Hall", "Love, not Seoul" and "Trapeze Act". All award-winning songs are included (not withstanding the recent "Whose Home will the Flower Fall at).

Hacken is also highly sought after to sing many HKTVB blockbuster series theme songs, including "Dicey Business" and "the Drive of Life", the latter a Canto/Mando duet with Taiwanese, Xiao Gang.

All in all, quite a landmark selection, seeing that he made his debut in 1987/88, most of his chart topping hits are included here, spanning different phases of life and different record companies.

A must buy for all Hacken fans and those who relish good vocals and crisp arrangements.

December 26, 2007 Not fallin' off my Chair but.. Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
I confess I have not been an Andy Lau fan, not since he played the iconic Yang Guo (Return of the Condor Heroes) anyways. Churning out album after album and movie after movie, I always feel he's been over-exposed. Let's face it: Andy's vocal prowess is scant Royal Albert Hall material but he has legion of female fans behind him and this will ensure this compilation album would hit platinum figures. The last Andy CD I bought was the late 2003 4-disc greatest hits album, which left out a lot of the better material in his recent years. More a Cantopop fan than his Mandarin hits, I savoured some of the songs from recent years which made it to the Annual awards presentation. I particularly like the uptempo "Birth and Upbringing"
and "Summer Fiesta". Ballads may be his forte but I can also name many of his contemporaries who can out-sing him. The recent hit "Angel Without Wings" could really do without the "We wish you a Merry Christmas" which is really more a distraction than embellishment. Otherwise, album is recommended for those who enjoy light and easy listening songs by Cantopop's most hardworking. Or strictly for die-hard fans.

September 27, 2007 Satisfactory Selection Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
Still listening to her 2004 compilation of hits, I was quite tempted NOT to get this particular one. This 2007 compilation contains hits from her last 3 albums, as well as the last few prior. Admittedly, Gigi's star slided a little after her tumultous split with Ekin a couple of years ago. She has lost some shine in terms of song writing, having had some of her good years circa 2000-2004, penning gems such as TALL GIRL (I actually like her version better than Hacken's).
All these gems are found here, plus some new songs, including THE FUTURE OF FUTURE, which should be up the charts. She has also ventured beyond ballads and shows maturity as song writer and singer. Keep on working, girl.

July 7, 2007 Unexpectedly pleasant Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
I received this latest CD from my cousins living in HK when they came to visit. God knows when my last Leon Lai CD purchase was. I was never a great fan (except that he's a cutie, I never thought much about his singing/acting abilities - exception: his turn with Maggie Cheung in Comrades: a Love Story).

He interpreted near-competently (my idol) Jacky Cheung's numbers. Of his own 4 songs, I love "Wish You Will Not Go Away Tonight" (from a 1993 TV series with Faye Wong!). On Aaron's songs, his duet with Janice is refreshing and I will admit I listened to his "Water of Forget" several times because it surpasses Andy Lau's version!, mainly because his Mandarin enunciation is fautless.

Kudos really go to the arrangers and producers. A must-buy who relishes the 90s when the 4 kings ruled the HK-popdom.

August 27, 2006 Good for Gigi Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
It is a sultry Sunday night and I had just bought this in HK, so listening it on my BOSE set in the Philippines with a glass of green tea, is especially relaxing and befitting to the mood of most tracks on this CD.
There is no really outstanding track, unlike her last big hit (Two Persons' Luck). Like most critics here wrote, the last two albums were quite disappointing. But this pleasant album sees her bouncing back to her ballad-y days. Perhaps it's a renaissance of sorts, esp. since the break-up with Noodle.
Tracks 2,3 and 8 are hit material and I hope she will score in the Top Ten Awards at the end of the year.
    Go - Gigi Girl.

December 9, 2005 Return of the Diva! Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
I waited with bated breath for Sandy's latest Cantonese studio offering, since the last in 1996, a whole 10 years, and she doesn't disappoint. This album is superior in terms of production, music, lyrics and overall packaging. Track #5 - Why He Leaves You - harks back to her Wildflower days - crystal clear diction and sleek radio-friendly music/text. Track #10 closes the album very well, on a high note.
I had hoped that her duet with Jacky Cheung circa 2002 (Day and Night) which was not featured as a single track on any album, would be included here. But then again, no duets, no special gimmicks, just pure Sandy - good music and strong vocals. already looking forward to her next Canto offering. Just don't take too long, please.
